WTF?! Steve Scalise Says Las Vegas & His Own Shooting "Fortified" His Position That More Guns = More Safety!

While regular people and country musicians are looking at the 59 dead and 527 wounded in the Las Vegas shooting and changing their minds about sensible gun control, a surprise voice is standing firm. Representative Steve Scalise, who was shot last June when a deranged Bernie Sanders-supporting gun owner opened fire on a GOP baseball practice, says Vegas and his own experiences did not dissuade him from his view that we'd be safer with more guns. Video: Rep. Scalise Receives Standing Ovation Returning To House Floor In an interview on Fox News Tuesday night, the House Majority Whip says these tragic events "fortified" his position. WHAT? Rather than explain that position, he immediately gets off track, talking about why no one should be talking about gun control: "First of all you've gotta recognize that when there is a tragedy like this, the first thing we should be thinking about is praying for the people who were injured and do whatever we can to help them, to hep law enforcement." Um, isn't that what stricter, more sensible gun regulations would do? Help law enforcement? Maybe Steve has never heard the adage, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." He continues: "We shouldn't first be promoting our political agenda." This isn't some political agenda. It isn't a game. We don't have an irrational dislike of guns and lie in wait to to take advantage of mass shootings as an excuse. When we have to see a tragedy like this, we recognize some ways in which we can make it more difficult for the NEXT one. We aren't making it political, we just want to see fewer lives in danger. Photos: Here Are All The Las Vegas Shooting Victims Identified So Far Scalise then jumped to the argument that more guns are actually safer, like when he was shot (totally disregarding the fact the people with their own guns at his shooting were Capitol Police, not random civilians). He concludes: "People use guns WAY MORE to defend themselves from criminals than criminals using guns to hurt people." ... We honestly don't know if he's lying or if he actually believes that nonsensical statement. But here are some numbers for Steve, of 2012, a year recently studied by the Violence Policy Center. In that year, the total number of gun deaths ruled as justifiable homicides, in which a gun owner shot a criminal in self defense, was 259. The number of criminal homicides using a gun? 8,342. We aren't great at math, but we do know for certain that 259 is not WAY MORE than 8,342. In fact, we have a calculator on our phone that tells us it's about 3%. Related: Chelsea Handler Has A Scathing Message For Congress What one could say is that WAY MORE gun owners and their loved ones are killed by their guns accidentally than use guns to defend themselves. According to the FBI, in 2012, there were 548 fatal unintentional shootings. That's over twice the number of self defense shootings. We can't believe he didn't do any of this research. It's almost like he had the conclusion in mind first then just said things to justify it. Watch him just say things to justify it (below): .@SteveScalise on Second Amendment: "When there was a shooter, luckily we had Capitol Police there with their own guns." #TheStory pic.twitter.com/Ve3H3hb9k7 — Fox News (@FoxNews) October 3, 2017 [Image via FoxNews/Twitter.].....»»

Donald Trump Says Stricter Gun Laws Would Have Left "Hundreds More Dead" In Texas & Uses That False Chicago Argument Once Again

Donald Trump's response when pressed about "extreme vetting" for gun buyers is filled with so many inaccuracies, it's hard to know where to begin. During a press conference in Seoul, South Korea on Tuesday, an NBC journalist inquired whether POTUS would consider stricter rules for purchasing guns in the wake of all of the mass shootings -- something he's done with things like immigration. Trump responded with a smart ass remark about it being too soon to discuss policy before making a "good guy with a gun" argument. He went on to say tougher regulations would not have stopped the mass shooting in Texas -- which is just insane. Related: Trump Says Texas Church Shooting 'Isn't A Guns Situation' He said: "You're bringing up a situation that probably shouldn't be discussed too much right now. We could let a little time go by. It's OK if you feel that's an appropriate question even though we're in the heart of South Korea. I will certainly answer your question. If you did what you're suggesting, there would have been no difference three days ago, and you might not have had that very brave person who happened to have a gun or a rifle in his truck go out and shoot him, and hit him and neutralize him. I can only say this: If he didn't have a gun, instead of having 26 dead, you would have had hundreds more dead. So that's the way I feel about it. Not going to help." Trump then used Chicago as example of a city with "the strongest gun laws in our nation" -- but called the Illinois hub a "disaster": "Look at the city with the strongest gun laws in our nation — Chicago. Chicago is a disaster, a total disaster. If this man did not have a gun or rifle it would have been a much worse situation in the great state of Texas." Not only do other cities like New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco have stricter gun laws on the books -- but Chicago has even been criticized by The Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence for not requiring registration of firearms, for not limiting the purchase of multiple firearms, and for not allowing local jurisdictions to regulate firearms. So, there's clearly a lot of work to be done. In fact, Illinois as a state is ranked EIGHTH on the "Smart Gun Laws" report card. In his new Showtime series Who Is America?, Sacha Baron Cohen was able to convince several politicians that the solution to school shootings was to arm children with guns. The result was a segment as hilarious as it was terrifying. Sunday's premiere episode saw the actor transformed into Col. Sacha Baron Cohen is coming in hot. He left the nation a little triggered after doing a skit that suggested schoolchildren having access to triggers is the best way to stop a school shooting. The premiere episode of Sacha’s show Who Is America, Cohen portrayed a character that suggested giving guns to kindergarteners was a good idea. Naturally, a good portion of the good ol’ USA lost their shit. It was clearly meant to be comedic due to the absurdity of giving guns to kids who just kicked the habit of wetting the bed a few days ago, but some people just didn’t get the joke. The segment, titled “Kill or Be Killed,” featured Cohen in character as anti-terror expert Colonel Erran Morad. Morad’s plan is to give guns to kindergarteners and to children as young as three years old. The segment found Morad recruiting Virginia Citizens Defense League president Philip van Cleave to his cause. Cleave appeared with “Morad” in a children’s commercial to promote the initiative. The campaign tried to make guns appealing to kindergarteners by dressing up the weapons in animal costumes and giving the guns names such as “Puppy Pistol.” Cohen also interviewed several Republican politicians who expressed interest in arming kindergarteners, including former congressman Joe Walsh. Being offensive as a marketing technique is the quickest way to get everyone to focus on you as the topic of conversation. Sacha succeeded in stealing the spotlight by using the sensitive subject of school shootings in a skit. If we’re looking at the cup half-full here, at least he got everyone’s attention away from scrambling to figure out what Kim Kardashian is up to for a few hours. But using school shooting sprees as fodder for some funnies on your show is a little low. The quiet kid who always wears army surplus gear to school with access to his father’s AR-15 already feels like the world doesn’t take him seriously. Sketches like these may inspire those weirdos to act. Thanks Sacha. With 18 school shootings in 2018 it’s about time the government comes for your guns. Except there hasn’t been 18 school shootings in 2018 like so many struggling news outlets would like to lead you to believe. But don’t tell that to Kim Kardashian because now the same woman who is farming fat from her chubby hubby to relocate to her ass wants to talk gun control. She’s taken a brief break from stripping on the internet for attention in an attempt to have a serious conversation that will get her even more attention. It may sound strange but even in this detached selfish society people still care about the safety of children over a pair of tits. Kim figured this out and now she is doing her best to sound caring and cash in. Kardashian slammed Congress about it failed to pass meaningful legislation. “Nothing has changed!!!! People continue to senselessly die. When will these gun laws be changed?!?!?!?!!!!?????” she asked on Twitter at the time, adding: “The fact that anyone can so easily access guns is so scary & after all of the devastating loss the Senate should have not failed us!!!” Anything involving school children and guns are scary but the same people who deny facts when it comes to firearms are equally as scary. Criminals don’t obey laws. Using a school shooting as a debate point to push your personal political perspective just seems disrespectful to the 17 people who died. They’re actual people and not some statistic for an argument. A YouTuber using their real name with “I want to be a professional school shooter” comment is pretty damning. The FBI dropped the ball here and claims their budget wasn’t big enough to investigate. But a lot of authoritative figures have the “it’s just a job” mentality. That same mentality that almost never catches a school shooter beforehand but will fine almost an entire town over an ordinance stating that the length of their grass is too long. Priorities. And Kim is currently tweeting about make-up and beauty tips so her outrage didn’t last very long. We owe it to our children and our teachers to keep them safe while at school. Prayers won’t do this: action will. As we're sure you heard, a 26-year-old gunman killed at least 26 people and wounded about 20 others inside the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas on Sunday. In response, POTUS told reporters the shooting "isn't a guns situation," but rather a "mental health problem." How about: it's both. "Repeatedly" being the key word here for those wondering what he did all of a sudden. He may have finally hit the bullshit tipping point today, but he's been saying horrible things for years. Here are 5 of the worst: 1. Sandy Hook Was A Hoax "Yeah, so, Sandy Hook is a synthetic completely fake with actors, in my view, manufactured. I couldn't believe it at first. I knew they had actors there, clearly, but I thought they killed some real kids. And it just shows how bold they are, that they clearly used actors." This is the one that will be on Alex's tombstone. Jones pushed for years the conspiracy theory that the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown in 2012 was a government conspiracy theory. His position evolved from saying the grieving parents you saw on TV were actors paid by the government to really sell it to later saying no children ever really died. Some parents who have suffered harassment at the hands of Jones' fans recently filed a defamation suit against him for it. 2. Hillary Clinton Is A Murderer Who Runs A Pedophile Ring "When I think about all the children Hillary Clinton has personally murdered and chopped up and raped, I have zero fear standing up against her. Yeah, you heard me right. Hillary Clinton has personally murdered children. I just can't hold back the truth anymore." WTF was he talking about in that video (that was viewed half a million times before it was deleted)? #Pizzagate. Jones was the most widely heard pusher of the completely ludicrous conspiracy theory which was first created during the 2016 election. The idea? Hillary Clinton and other Democrats aren't just wrong on issues, they're actually running a child sex slave ring. The base of operations? A pizza parlor in Washington, D.C. Apparently theorists said "cheese pizza" was code for "child pornography." Yeah, clever. Except EVERYONE ORDERS A FUCKING CHEESE PIZZA AT A PIZZA PARLOR! You're telling us they're trying to keep this thing a secret but every single birthday party that comes in is unknowingly ordering 4 pepperoni and 6 CHILD PORN TAPES?? What, did the mothers just get the child porn and go, "OH, didn't expect that but OK" and quietly hide it in their purse? This nonsensical theory was so popular that after Jones urged fans to "go investigate it for yourself" one actually did -- by holding the place hostage with a rifle demanding someone show him the children. Jones later backtracked, presumably to distance himself from the real-life consequences of his words and said he believed the conspiracy theory itself was a "distraction" from Clinton's other crimes, which were even worse than murdering children. For real, that was his backtrack. 3. The Orlando Shooting Was Planned By The Government We guess Jones realized it was too difficult to sell the idea that no shooting actually occurred, so by the time the Pulse Nightclub shooting happened he just went with the old conspiracy theorist standby: the government is behind it. Why?? Oh, because Barack Obama wanted to take everyone's guns and, as Jones put it, to pass "hate laws to deal with right-wingers" -- and a big, manufactured massacre was a good way to stir up anti-gun sentiment. So the people against gun violence are BEHIND the gun violence they want to stop? Ah, see, to understand this theory you have to realize the given premise -- Democrats don't want to stop gun violence, they want to take away guns so the people won't be able to overthrow the government. (This crap made more sense before Harrier jets were a thing.) 4. The Government Can Control The Weather And Uses It As A Weapon Yep. Jones thinks that Gerard Butler movie is a documentary. In 2013, Jones said the government "can create and steer groups of tornadoes": "Of course there's weather weapon stuff going on -- we had floods in Texas like fifteen years ago, killed thirty-something people in one night. Turned out it was the Air Force." This one is particularly pernicious; imagine your loved one died in a horrible storm. Times are bad enough -- then comes this guy to tell you, NO! YOUR GRANDMA WAS MURDERED! BY OBAMA! Sadly, people believed it. Notice that the government works way more efficiently in Jones' mind? Wonder why Donald Trump somehow gets a pass? It's because he's part of the club! Trump is a conspiracy theorist himself, pushing the Birther conspiracy and cheering on Jones. So Jones returns the favor. 5. Jones Admitted He's A Fucking Liar Jones went through a bitter divorce, and during the custody battle his ex-wife used some of his own horrible statements to show he shouldn't be allowed around their children. In court documents, Jones admitted through his lawyer that he was merely "playing a character" on his show and didn't really believe that stuff. He even called himself a "performance artist." This may be the most fucked up thing he has said. Why? Because it proves he's not some easily duped guy confused by all the news coming and going. He's not trying to make sense of it all. He's a liar. He's selling lies that hurt people, and he knows it. Yes, we have freedom of speech in this country, but we also have responsibility of speech. The things he's saying are actually encouraging his audience to do harm to people, and there's evidence of it. And that's why he's been given the boot. [Image via InfoWars/YouTube.].....»»

This GOP Lawmaker Actually Thinks High School Students SHOULD Bring Guns To School!

We swear, this is not a parody! Some Republicans are really just this daft! During the National Walkout Day on Wednesday, Ohio state Representative Niraj Antani seemed to one-up Donald Trump's NRA-friendly plan to arm teachers by tweeting in response to his political opponent: Students deserve a chance to stand their ground and defend themselves. — Rep. Niraj Antani (@NirajAntani) March 14, 2018 And then, shockingly: The more people who carry, the safer we will all be. — Rep. Niraj Antani (@NirajAntani) March 14, 2018 As crazy as it is to combat school shootings by putting MORE guns in schools, putting more in the hands of students makes that look downright lucid. We mean, how would other students know there wasn't about to be a shooting at any given moment? What if they see a gun and just start shooting one another? Related: Actual GOP Candidate Called Parkland Shooting Survivor A 'Skinhead Lesbian' What if there IS a school shooting, and the police come and see multiple kids with rifles?? Antani later told the Dayton Daily News he isn't advocating for students to carry guns, he's just defending their legal right to do so: "The law is anybody above 21 can have a handgun and anybody above 18 can have a long gun, and so anyone who complies with the law should be able to carry and protect themselves. If you look at what happened many decades ago, people brought their firearms to school. They kept them in their cars, maybe, but there was not a problem." The more guns, the safer we'll be. Forget an A rating, this guy is going for NRA valedictorian! He must be feeling heat from his constituency though, as he tweeted on Friday: I did a poor job of communicating my position, and I apologize for that. STATEMENT: pic.twitter.com/gHNuNJvGZD — Rep. Niraj Antani (@NirajAntani) March 16, 2018 No, we think it's clear. He's not *advocating* for students to carry guns, just saying they **can** and if they ***do***, everyone will be safer. Got it, R-42 voters?? [Image via NBC.].....»»

Actual GOP Candidate Calls Parkland Shooting Survivor A "Skinhead Lesbian" In Series Of Deleted Tweets!

You probably already know Emma González. She's one of the survivors of last month's shooting in Parkland, Florida. She's one of the survivors of last month's shooting in Parkland, Florida. One of the teens who have bravely walked onto the national stage refusing to let the gun debate die as it always does. Using her knack for leadership honed as the President of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School's Gay-Straight Alliance, she has helped turn the fed up masses into a real movement. Video: Watch Trump Tell Survivors He Is 'Very Strongly' Considering Arming Teachers A name you probably don't know is Leslie Gibson, an NRA member and GOP candidate running unopposed for Maine's 57th District, who decided to insult her on Twitter, writing: "There is nothing about this skin head lesbian that impresses me and there is nothing that she has to say unless you're a frothing at the mouth moonbat." He also said she wasn't a shooting survivor because she was in a "different part of the school" and called her friend and fellow activist David Hogg a "bald faced liar." The tweets have since been deleted, but of course it's the Internet where nothing is ever really gone. See the receipts (below)! You said it was @gibson_house that said that? Like, LESLIE GIBSON, the Tresurer of @AndroGOP? The guy running for District 57 State House seat? He called @Emma4Change what??? A "skin head lesbian"? #ParklandShooting#mepolitics pic.twitter.com/0q0YEZMCvL — Darth Mueller (@TrumanChapman27) March 12, 2018 Since Gibson's... let's be nice and call it a lack of civility was revealed, he has since deleted his personal account and made his campaign account, @gibson_house, private. That's the kind of courage of convictions people want in their lawmakers. BTW, we're sure Emma is too busy organizing the March For Our Lives on March 24 to even pay attention to this kind of ridiculousness. She did retweet: Looks like she's taking the high road. Unlike Emma, we're going to call Gibson out for the dull-witted, immature tool he is. Related: Trump Thinks Movies Are Too Violent, Suggests Some Kind of 'Ratings System' Trying to contain a PR disaster, Gibson later apologized to Emma, tweeting: "I would like to extend to you my most sincere apology for how I addressed you. It was wrong and unacceptable. You are doing work that is important to you. I would like to extend my hand in friendship and understanding to you." According to the Portland Press Herald, however, he defended his speech by saying he swore to "uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States": "Because of this, I am very passionate about protecting our constitutional rights from those who seek their elimination. It was not appropriate to single out the Parkland students, but I stand firm in my defense of our constitutional rights. Maybe if he had taken the time to actually listen to the words of any of these students, they're not even trying to eliminate the Second Amendment -- they just want common sense safety regulations like the banning of military weapons, universal background checks, and the closing of loopholes. Guess actually discussing the points and not making ad hominem attacks against teachers is for "frothing at the mouth moonbats." Or whatever. BTW, in response to this behavior, local Democratic organizer Pat Fogg said she hopes someone will run against Gibson: "I wish I knew someone who could get into this race. That sort of stupidity really turns people off." For real. We're sure plenty of Emma's fellow Parks And Recreation fans in Maine would love to vote LESLIE NOPE. [Image via CNN/Twitter.].....»»

After Las Vegas Shooting, Gun Mod Supplier Suspends All Sales Of Controversial "Bump Stocks"

We had no idea what a "bump stock" was a few days ago. And we should never have had to learn. Essentially a bump stock is a rifle modification that makes a semi-automatic weapon fire with the speed of a fully automatic weapon. It's what the Las Vegas shooter used to kill 59 people and injure hundreds more attending the Route 91 Harvest Festival on Sunday. Related: Just FYI, It's Illegal To Carry A Toy Gun On Las Vegas Strip This gun modification is at the moment completely legal, or as Slide Fire, the company that originated the design, puts it, bump stocks are "controllable, safe, and ATF approved!" Well, that may not be true much longer. The NRA, possibly in an effort to pass the blame from guns in general to this one specific technology, has come out with a rare statement in favor or MORE gun control, writing: "The NRA believes that devices designed to allow semi-automatic rifles to function like fully-automatic rifles should be subject to additional regulations." We have to note they also took the opportunity to give a very shady "Thanks, Obama" for old times' sake, writing: "In Las Vegas, reports indicate that certain devices were used to modify the firearms involved. Despite the fact that the Obama administration approved the sale of bump fire stocks on at least two occasions, the National Rifle Association is calling on the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) to immediately review whether these devices comply with federal law." Right. You know how those liberals hate gun safety regulations. Never mind that the NRA was paying off politicians all those years too... Related: This Country Musician Survived And It Completely Changed His Stance On Gun Control However they want to play it politically, it's actually an important point. These modifications did make the weapons used in Las Vegas that much more dangerous. Well, now The Blast noticed that Slide Fire has actually suspended their sales! In a message on their website, they inform consumers that they have decided to "temporarily suspend taking new orders." They may say it's to "provide the best service" for existing orders, but we highly doubt the timing is a coincidence. Maybe they were overloaded with orders by gun enthusiasts who heard about their use in the Vegas attack and decided they needed to have that on their guns. Maybe they were told to hold off until the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms has given their product another look. Maybe they saw what their product was being used for and grew a conscience? We'll have to wait and see. [Image via Twitter/Slide Fire.].....»»

Florida high school students who went through the tragedy of 17 of their classmates and teachers being killed in a shooting on Valentine's Day are speaking up -- and speaking loudly. Through television interviews and social media, the teens of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School are calling out the inaction of the country's gun-loving leaders. Related: Shooter Possibly Linked To White Supremacist Group Oh, and Donald Trump, whose campaign benefited from the NRA to the tune of about $31 million btw. None did so with as much pure, angry appeal as Sarah Chadwick, who went viral for tweeting directly at the POTUS: My prayers and condolences to the families of the victims of the terrible Florida shooting. No child, teacher or anyone else should ever feel unsafe in an American school. — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 14, 2018 Sarah wrote: "I don't want your condolences you fucking price of shit, my friends and teachers were shot. Multiple of my fellow classmates are dead. Do something instead of sending prayers. Prayers won't fix this. But Gun control will prevent it from happening again." She later deleted the tweet, apologizing for her language but not her sentiment. Now she's calling out the Commander-In-Chief to speak with her in person on the subject: Dear Donald Trump, I’m the 16 year old girl who tweeted you and told you i didn’t want your condolences, I wanted gun control, and went viral because of it. I heard you’re coming to my community soon and I would like to express my opinions on gun control to you face to face. — sarah // #NEVERAGAIN (@sarahchad_) February 16, 2018 Will Trump accept the challenge?? Video: Medium Tyler Henry Helps Chad Michael Murray! In response, the 36-year-old actor is calling the claims "ludicrous" as he would never marry for anything but love!! In a statement to People, the House Of Wax star clapped back via his rep: "The story is ludicrous. Chad conducts himself in a completely professional manner and would never marry for any reason but love. Thirteen years since his divorce from Sophia, he has a very happy family life with his wife and children. He has completely moved on and doesn't feel the need to engage in this type of behavior." Ooh, burn. To be fair, Chad couldn't even recognize Hilary Duff under her masquerade mask in A Cinderella Story, so we wouldn't say he's the most observant!! Still bitter from 2004.
