Actress Explains Why She Refused To Wear Black At The Golden Globes!

The women of Hollywood came together for a powerful statement on the Golden Globes red carpet on Sunday, wearing black in support of the #MeToo and now #TimesUp movements! Unfortunately they didn't represent a completely unified front; a handful of women bucked the trend. Did they somehow not hear about it? Not care? Photos: ALL The Golden Globes Red Carpet Looks! German actress Barbara Meier posted a lengthy explanation on Instagram for her own choice to go with a floral gown despite thinking #TimesUp was "a great and extremely important initiative." Unlike Rose McGowan, who called those who participated phonies, Meier supports her fellow actresses but says women shouldn't have to give anything up to protest: "If we want this to be the Golden globes of the strong women who stand up for their rights, I think, it's the wrong way not to wear any sexy clothes anymore or let people take away our joy of showing our personality through fashion... We should not have to wear black to be taken serious." Of course women shouldn't have to wear black. They shouldn't have to do any of this. But when so many of your colleagues have come up with such a simple way to show your solidarity, is it really too much to ask not to protest the protest?? Ch-ch-check out Barbara's entire explanation (below) and decide for yourself whether her point is valid. (c) @gettyentertainment --- A lot of women will wear black tonight to support the time‘s up movement! I think this is a great and extremely important initiative! Nevertheless I decided to wear a colorful dress tonight. If we want this to be the Golden globes of the strong women who stand up for their rights, I think, it’s the wrong way not to wear any sexy clothes anymore or let people take away our joy of showing our personality through fashion. We were fighting a long time for the freedom to wear what we want to and that it is also ok, to dress up a little more sexy. If we now restrict this, because some men can’t control themselves, this is a huge step back in my opinion. We should not have to wear black to be taken serious. US women should shine, be colorful and sparkle. Just like it is our nature. In my opinion this symbolizes our freedom and our new strength. But to make clear: A lot of bad things happened and should never happen again!!!A post shared by Barbara Meier (@barbarameier) on Jan 7, 2018 at 3:59pm PST [Image via WENN.].....»»

ABC Is Still Looking At A Roseanne Spinoff Without The Title Star, But There"s One BIG Problem…

After ABC canceled Roseanne late last month due to star Roseanne Barr's undeniably racist comments about a former advisor to President Barack Obama, most fans of the re-booted show figured that was pretty much it for ever seeing it on TV again. But not so fast! ABC hinted soon after the cancellation, and they are still exploring avenues now, that might allow them to re-boot the show around Sara Gilbert's character while cutting Barr out of it altogether! Related: Fans Of The Old Roseanne Need To Read This… According to TMZ, ABC execs are doing their due diligence right now to avoid a lawsuit from Barr, because if they re-boot the show, there's some concern that she'd have an ownership stake in it since she created the original, and served as an executive producer. Obviously, with the first re-boot being canceled because of Roseanne's actions, network execs don't want her to be profiting off the new re-boot that may or may not go on without her. So, ABC is literally going character by character and determining which ones Roseanne has a financial stake in, which ones she created, and which ones they can get away with using for the re-boot that won't involve her. Wild -- but smart!!! Clearly, network execs are motivated to strike while the iron is hot, and potentially move QUICKLY to re-re-boot this show. We'll see if it happens... but we could hear something as early as this coming week!!! [Image via NBC.].....»»
