Gwyneth Paltrow Gets Candid About Lifelong "Intimacy Issues" & Her First "Adult Relationship" With Fiancé Brad Falchuk!

Adulting is easy… when you finally find the right person to adult with! For Gwyneth Paltrow, that means being in a relationship that's "sometimes uncomfortable" because it demands a level of intimacy her past relationships didn't — which is why she considers her first "adult relationship" to be with fiancé Brad Falchuk! For Gwyneth Paltrow, that means being in a relationship that's "sometimes uncomfortable" because it demands a level of intimacy her past relationships didn't -- which is why she considers her first "adult relationship" to be with fiancé Brad Falchuk! Related: Gwyneth & Brad Throw Star-Studded Engagement Party! The actress got candid about why her mature relationship with the Glee writer works, noting that in the past, she's dated men who she knew would have a hard time being intimate so she couldn't blame herself for the relationship's collapse. Speaking to the Sunday Times, she explained: "In the past, I've been in relationships with men who had intimacy issues, so I could be, like, 'I'm fine, I'm ready to do this,' and let myself think he's the one with the problem. In a way, some of the relationships were designed to keep me out of intimacy." But her relationship with Falchuk is very different! The Goop founder insisted that her current coupling works because Falchuk makes Paltrow face her fears in the intimacy department, adding: "Now, for the first time, I feel I'm in an adult relationship that is sometimes uncomfortable, because he sort of demands a certain level of intimacy and communication that I haven't been held to before. What came up in the first couple of years of our relationship was how incapable I was in this realm, how I feared intimacy and communication." Some of the 45-year-old's other high-profile romances include a failed engagement to Brad Pitt, a 3-year on-and-off relationship with Ben Affleck, and an over 10-year marriage to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. Related: Gwyneth Is "Basically Never Cleansing"! According to Paltrow, all of these relationships perpetuated her "broken" sensibilities about romance and intimacy: "If you look at life like a pie chart, the romantic slice is where all the shit comes out. I've always felt that I'm a good friend, mother, daughter, sister, boss, co-worker -- but that I was most broken in that romantic slice. I had two typical types of relationships: one where I was constantly chasing and trying to win someone over, and one where I was put off by the person's capacity for the relationship -- and those relationships were very short-lived." As for being in love? Paltrow wasn't much of an expert on that either: "In a lot of those relationships, I wasn't particularly in love with the person. It was more about 'Why don't they like me? What's wrong with me?' I think my desire to overachieve in part comes from this pattern." Not seeing her failed relationships as a failure was especially hard for Paltrow because she's the only one in her circle of friends to get divorced: "I'm actually the only one in my life who got divorced. This used to feel like a failure -- it took me a while to reframe that divorce isn't a failure." Thankfully, her relationship with Falchuk, whom she began dating in 2014 after meeting on the set of Glee, helped break Paltrow's pattern of feeling she had to be "extra, extra good at something in order to be worth anything." We bet the American Horror Story producer does a great job at reminding Gwynny she's worth it! And hopefully her exes aren't feeling too hurt by all the shade! [Image via Instagram.].....»»

The term out of the frying pan and into the fire applies to Arnaud’s journey, as Midnight is a town where a vampire (Peter Mensah), assassin (Arielle Kebbel), angel (Jason Lewis), and a werewolf (Yul Vázquez) reside. Arnaud credits Midnight, Texas writer/producer Monica Breen for immediately setting the right tone for the show. “I think from the moment I read the script I knew it had a very specific voice in the dialogue particularly,” said Arnaud. “I didn’t have a huge experience with network television but I had done something on Blindspot and I read a lot. I auditioned for Constantine, and oftentimes you feel like you’re fighting against the dialogue just to make it work. Monica’s ear is so good and very quickly after the pilot I felt she was listening to what we were doing. Very soon, I felt like she started writing for us - I would read a line that was specifically written for my delivery (laughs). It just feels right.” Click on the media bar to hear Arnaud glowingly talk about the special effects team behind Midnight, Texas: Midnight, Texas airs Monday nights on NBC (10/9c). The Dark Tower Is Getting Toppled By Critics! See The Vicious Review Roundup!

Yep, as of this writing the movie sits at a sad 16% on Rotten Tomatoes, something that probably shouldn't be too much of a surprise given reviews were embargoed until the day it came out. But even the kind reviews are so half-hearted, it sounds like the Stephen King adaptation is a movie for NO ONE. Related: The Emoji Movie Is An Appalling Pile Of 💩! The saddest part is, the books have been coming out for decades, and an adaptation has been in some form of development for about 15 years. And after all that time... eesh. Too bad for Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey, too. Because they sure are doing their part being adorable to sell it! Ch-ch-check out the TERRIBLE responses in our review roundup (below): Dan Callahan, The Wrap: "The 95-minute culmination of years-long efforts to bring The Dark Tower to the big screen is a complete disaster, a limp, barely coherent shell of a movie." Kate Erbland, indieWire: "King's Dark Tower universe is rich with cultural reference points and is always totally unpredictable, but in cutting it down to consolidate its highlights, The Dark Tower can't even shoot the most necessary bullets straight." Bill Goodykoontz, Arizona Republic: "The Dark Tower is a near-total whiff, a mess of a movie that took forever to get made and by the look of things should have taken about twice that long." Darren Franich, Entertainment Weekly: "Bad dialogue, lame plot, fine. The bigger issue: How could a film with Elba and McConaughey have so little swagger?" Stephanie Zacharek, TIME: "It could use more magic, more dread, a more staggering sense of wonder. It's wholly inoffensive, but it's unmemorable too. This is a fantasy that runs like a business." John DeFore, The Hollywood Reporter: "Heaven knows, the books offer more invention than could fit in one feature film, but in their effort to introduce newcomers to this world, the filmmakers make the saga's contents look not archetypal but generic and cobbled together." Scott Mendelson, Forbes: "Even without having read the books, I can only imagine the outrage and frustration that will be felt by fans of the source material... I enjoyed it on its own merits, but I imagine fans of the books are going to be horrified, and not in the right way." Owen Glieberman, Variety: "It's a highly competent and watchable paranoid metaphysical video game that doesn't overstay its welcome, includes some luridly entertaining visual effects, and -- it has to be said -- summons an emotional impact of close to zero." Stephen Whitty, Newark Star-Ledger: "Where's the story? As in – any of the story. We're given no sense of either of the two characters – just told they're locked in eternal, infernal battle, with our cosmic cowboy dedicated to stopping the villain from bringing on a demonic apocalypse... This isn't ‘The Dark Tower.' This is a small, sad pile of rubble – the foundation to a franchise you can only hope is never built." Brian Truitt, USA Today: "So much potential in terms of star power and source material goes to waste simply because it seems like the filmmakers couldn't figure out what movie to make. ‘Dark Tower' tosses out a lot of plot threads that never go anywhere and even the ending is rushed, like somebody forgot to study for an essay test and then has to B.S. their way out of a failing grade." Mike Ryan, Uproxx: "‘The Dark Tower' is so astoundingly awful that when you leave the theater you'll likely be less mad you wasted your time than flabbergasted that something like this could a) happen and b) be released as something that, theoretically, is going to launch a multi-platform franchise. ‘The Dark Tower' has been in production for around ten years in some form or another. This final product reminds me a lot of the GOP healthcare plan: You've had all this time and THIS is what you come up with? I can already picture John McCain strolling into a theater this weekend, giving a dramatic thumbs down, killing ‘The Dark Tower' forever." The Dark Tower hits theaters on Friday, with Thursday preview showings tonight. You know, if you still have to see for yourself. [Image via Sony Pictures.].....»»

Here’s what the 46-year-old singer and actor had to say… On appearing in American Crime Story, a TV show that explores the homophobia of the 1990s: “The level of injustice that we as a community were dealing with back then was heavy. I played every role before I even started working on this project. I was a closeted gay man who was making my partners hide. I had relationships with other men who were in the closet and I had other relationships with men who were not in the closet but because of me went back into the closet. And so I’m re-living everything that I did.” On how he avoided facing up to his sexuality for years: “I submitted myself to my career completely. I didn’t open doors to new relationships, and I’m not talking about romantic relationships, I’m talking about any relationship, because I didn’t want people to know me too much. I wouldn’t even sit down and have a cool relationship with amazing producers or great film directors because I was afraid that if they spent more than two hours sitting with me they would know my nature. I wasted so much energy trying to manipulate my sexuality.” On how he first met husband Jwan Yosef online: “I contacted him and we talked for six months. We were just sending messages, talking about life and existential issues. Nothing sexy, nothing sexual. It’s not that he was sending me sexy pictures and vice versa, I swear…but when I first saw him I said, ‘I am marrying this guy’. And apparently he said exactly the same thing. Obviously he only told me this later on, you have to keep it to yourself at first! But I lost my breath when I saw him. Six months’ build-up and it was very romantic.” For more from Ricky, head to Attitude.co.uk......»»

The singer and star, now 46, is playing the longtime partner of fashion icon Gianni Versace -- a man named Antonio D'Amico -- in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, and in the promotional run-up to the show, Martin has some thoughts about open relationships! Related: Martin Was Told Coming Out Would End His Career Considering the real-life couple was non-monogamous and slept with other people, it's Ricky's hope that there won't be much harsh judgment from fans who see how that storyline gets portrayed on the show. Martin spoke to Vulture about it, saying (below): "I want to normalize relationships like this. It's good for the world; it's good for me as a gay man with kids. It's important that we shed some light on power couples like this." Interesting comments considering how Ricky has never publicly denied or confirmed that he and husband Jwan Yosef are in an open relationship. But the Livin' La Vida Loca singer continued on with more (below): "I also believe there was a level of homophobia going around in [Antonio's] family where he was hiding, even though he says, 'My relationship was very open and free with Gianni' … The level of commitment after 15 years. The level of security between them and trust between them is so solid. We want to normalize another kind of reality for open relationships. And that's what we're doing. There's absolutely nothing wrong." Thoughts, Perezcious readers?! Let us know in the comments (below)!!! [Image via Media Punch.].....»»

A group of outsiders find themselves in a small town that’s actually a locus for evildoing. Each of these denizens take pride in their extended family, and they’ll do whatever it takes to keep each other safe. Jason Lewis is Joe, a fallen angel who believes Midnight will play an important part in the fate of humanity. Though Joe’s wings obviously are the first thing you’ll notice, Lewis adds that the show’s main focus lies on a much larger plane. “I think the supernatural, these elements of mythology are articulations for our humanity - especially in the form of storytelling” said Lewis. “(Joe’s wings) are a character attribute - does it affect (Joe’s) life? But the greater struggles are how do you fit in with the reasoning that’s presented to you? Do you agree with this tyranny? And if not, what are you going to do about it?” Click on the media bar to hear Jason Lewis talk about how a Bansky work reminded him of one of the themes behind Midnight, Texas: Midnight, Texas, co-starring Yul Vasquez and Parisa Fitz-Henley, airs Monday nights on NBC (10/9c). The series is one of the most watched Netflix shows to be entirely non-English. Dark, a family saga with a supernatural twist, is set in a German town in present day where the disappearance of two young children exposes the double lives and fractured relationships among four families. In ten, hour-long episodes, the story takes on a supernatural twist that ties back to the same town in 1986. “When we first heard about Dark, we realized very early on that we hadn’t seen anything like this show before — in Germany or anywhere else in the world. Dark is a testament that great storytelling transcends geography. We’re excited that our members around the globe are captivated by the mysterious world of Winden, and will now be able to continue to see how the story unfolds,” said Kelly Luegenbiehl, vp international originals for Netflix. Congrats to the team behind Dark on the renewal!.....»»
