As we reported, it was announced over the weekend that Mrs. Bush had decided to seek comfort care rather than continue additional medical care as the state of her health declined. On Tuesday, she passed away. George H.W. Bush's office confirmed the news of his wife's death in a statement, saying: "A former First Lady of the United States of America and relentless proponent of family literacy, Barbara Pierce Bush passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at the age of 92. She is survived by her husband of 73 years, President George H. W. Bush, five children and their spouses; 17 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and her brother, Scott Pierce. She was preceded in death by her second child, Pauline Robinson "Robin" Bush, and her siblings Martha Rafferty and James R. Pierce. The official funeral schedule will be announced as soon as is practical." Barbara was the matriarch of an American dynasty -- the wife of the 41st president of The United States of America and the mother of the 43rd, George W. Bush. George W. released his own statement, remembering his mother fondly: "Laura, Barbara, Jenna, and I are sad, but our souls are settled because we know hers was. Barbara Bush was a fabulous First Lady and a woman unlike any other who brought levity, love, and literacy to millions. To us she was so much more. Mom kept us on our toes and kept us laughing until the end. I'm a lucky man that Barbara Bush was my mother. Our family will miss her dearly, and we thank you all for your prayers and good wishes." Our condolences go out to her family, friends, and loved ones. [Image via Carrie Devorah/WENN.].....»»

Former First Lady Barbara Bush has been a thousand years old for decades, but, after a long and what sure as hell seemed fun life, she’s finally gone to that big ashtray in the sky. She passed away this Wednesday at her home in Houston due to obstructive pulmonary disease and heart failure. The Houston-born Bush is the kind of brassy outspoken Southern women who only gets better with age, and even within the last two weeks of her life, she had this to say to her doctor about her little rascal son George W. Bush: You want to know why George W. is the way he is? Because I drank and smoked when I was pregnant with him. This seems like more of a factual statement than a joke, but either way, it’s the kind of spit-fire irreverence that the world could use more of right now. Or, maybe it’s a somber confession. Either way, Bush was obviously on top of her game right up until the end, and considering she was alive for ninety-two-years, that’s saying something. Bush took over First Lady duties from Nancy Reagan in 1989, and according to The Daily Beast, while Nancy Reagan’s new money sensibilities were about as subtle as an Italian building a waterslide off his roof on the Jersey Shore, Bush had that bad bitch colonial old money that brought sophistication to the White House. The kind of sophistication that can only be replicated by an Eastern European who hits the ear like Count Dracula. Following her time in the White House, Bush became mostly known for her DGAF commentary (in 2010 she said of Sarah Palin: “I think she’s very happy in Alaska, and I hope she’ll stay”) and the fact that she was a smoker (but I think people confuse her with her daughter-in-law Laura, who actually smoked in the White House, which is so cool.) In her memoir, Bush declared that after twenty-five years of smoking, she sadly had to give it up in 1968. But Bush was more than just an unfiltered old broad who prefered unfiltereds, and was one of the first people to give a shit about AIDS victims as far back as 1989. That year a photo of her hugging a baby with the AIDS helped to change perception of the then largely unknown disease. Sure it might have just been a photo op, but quite frankly, it’s 2018, and I wouldn’t touch that baby if you paid me. But I’m a terrible person, and Barbara Bush wasn’t. R.I.P. Barbara. Have a cigarette with Jesus for us. Photo Credit: Getty Images The post If She Smokes She Croaks appeared first on WWTDD - What Would Tyler Durden Do?......»»

Former President George H.W. Bush Apologizes To Actress Heather Lind Following Her Sexual Assault Claims Against Him

How very unpresidential of him! On Monday, actress Heather Lind accused former President George H.W. Bush of sexually assaulting her during a photo opportunity four years ago. In an Instagram post, which has since been deleted, Lind claimed the 41st President of the United States "touched her from behind" and then "told her a dirty joke." Related: Donald Trump Pelted With Russian Flags Before GOP Luncheon Oh no. Of course, Bush Sr.'s team has already moved quickly to downplay the accusation as a rep noted in a statement: "President Bush would never—under any circumstance—intentionally cause anyone distress, and he most sincerely apologizes if his attempt at humor offended Ms. Lind." We're sure Heather doesn't view a fondling as an "attempt at humor." Like, c'mon!! The Turn star's admission comes amid the many Me Too confessions about sexual assault and/or harassment. At first, the brunette starlet didn't have plans to expose the former POTUS. However, when she saw a snap of Barack Obama shaking hands with 41 at the recent Deep From the Heart: The One America Appeal concert, Heather decided to speak out. Earlier this week, the 34-year-old shared: "I was disturbed today by a photo I saw of President Barack Obama shaking hands with George H. W. Bush in a gathering of ex-presidents organizing aid to states and territories damaged by recent hurricanes. I found it disturbing because I recognize the respect ex-presidents are given for having served. And I feel pride and reverence toward many of the men in the photo." Understandably, Heather does NOT revere Bush Sr. as she continued: "When I got the chance to meet George H. W. Bush four years ago to promote a historical television show I was working on, he sexually assaulted me while I was posing for a similar photo. He didn't shake my hand. He touched me from behind from his wheelchair with his wife Barbara Bush by his side." How awful. The awkward moment then took a turn for the worse, as the Boardwalk Empire alum added: "He told me a dirty joke. And then, all the while being photographed, touched me again. Barbara rolled her eyes as if to say 'not again.' His security guard told me I shouldn't have stood next to him for the photo. We were instructed to call him Mr. President." While it is standard for past Commander-In-Chiefs to be addressed as Mr. President, the security detail shouldn't have victim-blamed the young woman. Regardless, Heather has doubled down on her refusal to call George, "Mr. President." She went on: "It seems to me a President's power is in his or her capacity to enact positive change, actually help people, and serve as a symbol of our democracy. He relinquished that power when he used it against me and, judging from the comments of those around him, countless other women before me. What comforts me is that I too can use my power, which isn't so different from a President really... I can enact positive change. I can actually help people. I can be a symbol of my democracy. I can refuse to call him President, and call out other abuses of power when I see them. I can vote for a President, in part, by the nature of his or her character, knowing that his or her political decisions must necessarily stem from that character." Oh snap. Thankfully, Heather's castmates and producers helped her get through the ordeal. She also applauded the many others who've spoken out against sexual misconduct. Although Heather didn't share "where, when, and how" details from the alleged incident, it's believed that the encounter took place during a private screening for AMC's Turn: Washington's Spies on March 29, 2014 in Houston, Texas. There is a photo of Heather posing next to George and Barbara from this event. Lind concluded her note with: "And I thank President Barack Obama for the gesture of respect he made toward George H. W. Bush for the sake of our country, but I do not respect him. #metoo." Thank you for sharing, Heather. We can't imagine it was easy. [Image via Dominic Chan/WENN.].....»»

Billy Bush Admits He Checked Into "Soul-Searching Retreat" Following Trump Tape Fallout!

Billy Bush is trying to win back the hearts of fans AND those in the industry who've blacklisted him. The seasoned TV personality made this abundantly clear during his Monday night appearance on Stephen Colbert's The Late Show. In fact, this sit down with Colbert came a mere day after Bush put Donald Trump on blast [...] Billy Bush is trying to win back the hearts of fans AND those in the industry who've blacklisted him. The seasoned TV personality made this abundantly clear during his Monday night appearance on Stephen Colbert's The Late Show. In fact, this sit down with Colbert came a mere day after Bush put Donald Trump on blast for allegedly questioning the authenticity of the Access Hollywood tape. Video: Trump Jokes About Overturning Obama's Turkey Pardons In case you forgot, the 46-year-old was axed from NBC after he was heard participating in a lewd conversation with the Trumpster in a tape from '05. While the convo essentially ruined Billy's life, it didn't stop Donald from becoming President of the United States. Thus, Bush was rightfully infuriated by POTUS's alleged claim that the tape was "fake news." On why he's decided to come forward NOW, Billy told Stephen: "Last week, [Trump] for some reason came out with, ‘That's not my voice on the tape.' Like I said, you can't say that. That is your voice, I was there, you were there, that's your voice on the tape.' ... So when he said this, it infuriated me on the personal front and then I ended up Googling and I read an article with all of these women's accounts, because when that article first came out, it was 13 days after I had been fired, so I was in my own personal shock, fight or flight. And so I never really read it all the way. And as I read these, I said, ‘Twenty women don't get together and say, ‘Hey, do you know what would be really fun? Let's take down a powerful guy together. Haha!' No, they don't... And I said, ‘Okay, you're reopening wounds on them too. Enough's enough. Stop playing around with people's lives!' That upset me. So I wrote [the op-ed]." We love seeing a politically woke Billy. Not to mention, Bush isn't hiding away from his own unsavory participation in the controversy. In regards to how he reacted when the tape first resurfaced, the Today alum said watching it was like a "gut punch" and originally equated Donald's words to a "crass stand-up act." Related: Trump Has Endorsed Controversial GOP Candidate Roy Moore Understandably, after time and reflection, Bush feels entirely different. He noted: "If I had thought there was a man detailing a sexual assault strategy to me, I would've called the FBI, not just reported it to my executive producer. That was it for me. … Everybody sort of had to kiss the ring of the Donald because he was making so much money for NBC." Bush went on to tell Colbert that he feels like he "sacrificed" a little bit of his soul by participating in the conversation and took time to do some self-introspection following the tape's release. Bush shared: "It's unbelievable irony. The very day he was swearing in as the 45th president of the United States, I was checking in to this soul-searching retreat in St. Helena, California. Nine days off the grid, no phone, you had to check-in your phone... It was the beginning of me saying, ‘Alright get up. Stop feeling sorry for yourself. Stop worrying of all these things, there's life to live. Let's go. Get better. Be a better man, be a better person.'" And it appears that some of the higher ups at NBC regret Billy's firing -- and Matt Lauer even defended him. Unfortunately, Lauer's opinion doesn't mean much these days as he's in the middle of a sexual misconduct scandal. Billy relayed: "My boss, months later, said publicly we may have moved a little quickly. [Matt and I] had a conversation about that. He told me that he went privately to the bosses … I said, ‘I appreciated it,' and accepted it and thanked him." Man, oh man. Regardless, the main thing Billy's learned from this whole experience is that "women must be believed." Well said. Be sure to ch-ch-check out Mr. Bush's first late-night appearance following his fall from grace (below). [Image via CBS/YouTube.].....»»

Third Woman Comes Forward Accusing Former President George H.W. Bush Of Groping

Former President George H.W. Bush has been accused of groping by another woman. Similarly to the first two accusers, Christina Baker Kline recalls being grabbed on the rear by the wheelchair-bound politician during a photo op back in April 2014. In an essay for Slate, Kline says she was invited as a guest author for the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy fundraiser. After the luncheon, where she was seated next to the former First Lady, Kline and her husband lined up for a pic with George, Sr. That's when the unexpected happened: the now-93-year-old grabbed her ass, making the same "David Cop-a-feel" joke the other two women had remembered. Related: Lina Esco Comes Forward With Harvey Weinstein Allegation Kline wrote of the interaction: "'Hello,' I said. 'It's truly an honor to meet yoicku.' He cocked his head at me for a moment, then said, 'You're beautiful.' 'Thank you,' I said. 'You're a writer.' 'Yes.' 'You wanna know my favorite book?' he whispered. I had to lean close to hear him. 'Yes, what is it?' By now the photographer was readying the shot. My husband stood on one side of the wheelchair, and I stood on the other. President Bush put his arm around me, low on my back. His comic timing was impeccable. 'David Cop-a-feel,' he said, and squeezed my butt, hard, just as the photographer snapped the photo. Instinctively, I swiped his hand away." Wow. After the picture, Christina and her husband were "whisked away" and told to "be discreet" by a member of the Bush staff about what happened. As for why the writer didn't come forward sooner, she explained: "First, the only thing that made this incident unusual was that it involved an ex-president. Most women I know have experienced this kind of joking and groping dozens of times. You become inured to it. It happens, you try to forget about it, and later you exchange war stories with other women. Second, I didn't want to face the scrutiny I knew an accusation like this would bring. Exactly one year earlier, at age 49, I'd finished a harrowing series of treatments for an invasive form of breast cancer. My hair had only just grown back. I was vulnerable enough; I didn't want to face the consequences of making such an accusation. (Remember Trump's comment that a woman wasn't pretty enough to be sexually harassed by him?). I also didn't want to seem opportunistic, as if I was reporting the former president's transgression for publicity purposes. (Although, ugh, who wants this kind of publicity?) I didn't want to collaterally damage the reputation of the literacy foundation, which does wonderful work. Most of all, I didn't want to be perceived as being cruel to a harmless, aging former president with a reputation for courtly gentility." That's a lot of pressure! You can read the rest of her side of the story -- and see the pic snapped at the exact moment of the grab -- HERE. P.S. When asked for comment on Kline's allegation, Bush's camp referred the outlet to the President's former statement which reads: "At age 93, President Bush has been confined to a wheelchair for roughly five years, so his arm falls on the lower waist of people with whom he takes pictures. To try to put people at ease, the president routinely tells the same joke — and on occasion, he has patted women's rears in what he intended to be a good-natured manner. Some have seen it as innocent; others clearly view it as inappropriate. To anyone he has offended, President Bush apologizes most sincerely." This is not acceptable behavior, and hopefully the courage of these women to share their stories will spark change. [Image via FOX.].....»»

Gross — Woman Alleges George H.W. Bush Groped Her When She Was Only 16

On Monday, for an interview with TIME, a woman opened up about an unsavory encounter she had with the former president back when she was only 16. Oof. Related: The WORST GOP Responses To The Roy Moore Sex Scandal! According to Roslyn Corrigan, she was only a teen when she was groped on the buttocks by a 79-year-old Bush in November 2003. Apparently, Corrigan had the opportunity to meet 41 when she accompanied her father to an event at the Central Intelligence Agency office in The Woodlands, TX. The event was attended by several intelligence agents and their loved ones. On the incident in question, Roslyn recalled: "My initial action was absolute horror. I was really, really confused. The first thing I did was look at my mom and, while he was still standing there, I didn't say anything. What does a teenager say to the ex-president of the United States? Like, ‘Hey dude, you shouldn't have touched me like that?'" Allegedly, George Sr. groped the youth while they posed next to each other for a picture. This claim is eerily similar to the five other allegations that have dropped recently. Tsk, tsk. In fact, you can apparently see Roslyn's horror in the photo, as she noted: "As soon as the picture was being snapped on the one-two-three he dropped his hands from my waist down to my buttocks and gave it a nice, ripe squeeze, which would account for the fact that in the photograph my mouth is hanging wide open. I was like, ‘Oh my goodness, what just happened?'" Ugh. To make matters worse, Corrigan has gotten many dismissive responses to her story over the years. She added: "I don't know, maybe it never really hit people that I was a child at the time and that goes beyond a guy being inappropriate in the workplace to a peer or somebody in his age range. I was a child." So sad. As for Bush Sr., he has since responded to the scandal via spokesperson Jim McGrath: "George Bush simply does not have it in his heart to knowingly cause anyone harm or distress, and he again apologizes to anyone he may have offended during a photo op." McGrath has previously downplayed the groping scandals by blaming the hand placement on George's confinement to a wheelchair. However, for the '03 photo-op, the celebrated Republican was upright. Corrigan's mother Sari corroborated Roslyn's story as she told the publication: "When he left, my daughter Rozi said, ‘He grabbed me on the rear end.' And I said, ‘What, what?' And she said, ‘Yes, he grabbed me when they were taking the picture. He grabbed me on my butt.' And I was like, ‘Oh my god, are you kidding me? ... I was really, really upset — she was very upset, she was really, really mad." Since Bush was once one of the most powerful people in the world, the family felt powerless against the political great. Several others close to Roslyn have supported her claims against the former Commander-In-Chief. Unsurprisingly, the groping left an impact on Roslyn as she concluded: "It completely floored me. I was actually there to be taken seriously, and I wasn't. I thought, he's a career politician, almost 80 years old or something like that, if anybody's going to take me a little bit seriously or at least try to pretend he's interested in what I have to say, it would be this guy. And he didn't. All he did was grab my butt." Bush's other accusers include actress Heather Lind, up-and-comer Jordana Grolnick, author Christina Baker Kline, journalist Liz Allen, and former Maine Senate candidate Amanda Staples. We're grateful to all of these women for opening up about their experiences. Thank you for sharing, ladies! [Image via Media Punch.].....»»

Sophia Bush Claims She Was Pressured Into Marrying Chad Michael Murray

We've always known that the CW casting process is indistinguishable from the sex trafficking fire sale scene in Taken, so it wouldn't be the biggest shocker if execs had such little respect for Bush as a person that they coerced her into marrying Murray in order to generate buzz for the series. The post Sophia Bush Claims She Was Pressured Into Marrying Chad Michael Murray appeared first on WWTDD - What Would Tyler Durden Do?.   If you read the headline for this post and thought “who?” and “who?” then congratulations. You passed the test. Stage four nobodies will always have a platform to air out drama that nobody cares about as long as screeching gossip-starved homosexual windup toys like Andy Cohen have radio and talk shows. On his Sirius radio fireside shat, Cohan got Bush – who starred alongside Murray on teen sex party channel the CW’s series One Tree Hill – to open up about her five-month-long marriage to Murray: Everybody’s been 22 and stupid. It was not a thing I actually really wanted to do. Ladies have to learn how to take up space in a way men are taught they are entitled to! …How do you let everybody down and how do you- what’s the fight and when you have bosses telling you that you’re the only person who gets a person to work on time and 200 people either get to see their kids at night or they don’t because our days start on time. Life is always loaded. What the public knows ever is never- it’s not the tip of the iceberg. Hilarie [Burton] and I used to laugh and we were like, ‘If we had a behind-the-scenes show, the drama would be so much f–king better than the drama that the writers write.’ We’ve always known that the CW casting process is indistinguishable from the sex trafficking fire sale scene in Taken, so it wouldn’t be the biggest shocker if execs had such little respect for Bush as a person that they coerced her into marrying Murray in order to generate buzz for the series. But snippets like “It was not a thing I actually really wanted to do” relinquish Bush of all the blame for her failed marriage and instead pin the blame on both the network and Murray. Who, not surprisingly, released a counter statement through his rep – because you’re definitely famous enough to need a rep, Chad ::wink:: – claiming that Bush is filled to the brim with crap: [The] story is ludicrous. Chad conducts himself in a completely professional manner and would never marry for any reason but love. Thirteen years since his divorce from Sophia, he has a very happy family life with his wife and children. He has completely moved on and doesn’t feel the need to engage in this type of behavior. So, now Bush has been painted as the desperate jilted ex-lover trying to distract from the fact that she’s getting older with fabricated stories about her decade-old marriage. But more importantly, who and who?
