Debra acts as a producer on the upcoming movie, which is being directed by Kate‘s husband, Michael Polish. The reason is because “it has nothing to do with Sharon’s death,” she told People. “They’re telling her story as a woman aside from the murders. Kate is going to capture Sharon’s heart, feeling and attitude.” Kate posted an update about the movie on her Instagram on Wednesday (March 7). “It is my honor to play Sharon Tate in our next film TATE. This movie will only celebrate her life. We will not violate her or exploit her death. For too long this beautiful woman made of light has had to endure tragedy. It is time to take away the microphone from the maniac. It’s her time. Thank you Debra Tate for joining us in sharing your sister’s life. I know, with you as our producing partner- we will do right. I love you. And to my husband- who stands with me, everyday, striving to bring female forward stories to the screen. I love you. Simply, you are the greatest,” she wrote. The late model's sister was blasted on social media after deeming Lawrence not attractive enough to play Sharon in Quentin Tarantino's upcoming movie about the Charles Manson murders. Deborah tried to do some damage control with J.Law fans in a new video on TMZ, but still made it clear she doesn't think the Hunger Games star is the best fit to play her sis. Photos: From Drugs To Murder -- Hollywood's Darkest Moments While Margot Robbie -- who is heavily speculated to be playing Sharon -- was her first pick to play her sister, Debra says there might be another actress out there who would make an even better choice. Since Debra controls the rights to Sharon's likeness, she certainly has a right to discuss her sister's portrayal. Still, there's a difference between being picky and just plain difficult. Maybe the director should just return this woman's phone calls already?.....»»

Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don't recognize anymore. But Rick has a very famous next-door neighbor... Sharon Tate." "My Rape Is Being Used To Attack" Quentin Tarantino — "And I Really Don"t Like That"

Samantha Geimer does not want anyone twisting her words. The woman who was raped by Roman Polanski in 1977 when she was just 13 years old found herself in the spotlight again this week after an old Quentin Tarantino interview was unearthed in which he flippantly defended Polanski. Related: Uma Thurman Defends Tarantino As She Releases Kill Bill Crash Footage Geimer naturally had something to say about that, but now she says her words were misconstrued by many. She clarified to IndieWire: "I did not call him out or slam him. When asked, I said he was wrong, as in incorrect, about what happened. I thought he knew better now, 15 years later, and did not expect that he would repeat that, because he would only make himself look bad. Okay, I said, "like an ass." But the sentiment was that he certainly knows better. The wording that he assumed I wanted to be "raped," I don't know where that came from, but he never said that. What I was really trying to say to those who called is, I don't care. I don't care what anyone says, I'm not upset, this and worse has been happening to me for years. And mostly, I am aware that my rape is being used to attack him and I really don't like that." Geimer says she never expected to speak to Tarantino on the phone but made the most of his personal apology: "I think he realizes that the things he said to be shocking involve an actual person — me — and he wasn't thinking about that at the time. He felt bad about it. While I had him on the phone, I made him talk to me about some of his movies. Ha, ha. Didn't want to waste that opportunity. He is sincere in his apology and I told him I felt my rape was being used to attack him by people who don't care about what happened to me, and I do take offense to that." Ha! She asked movie questions! She also apparently tried to get a scoop about his upcoming Sharon Tate film, which she thought sounded in bad taste: "I asked him about his upcoming movie, because I heard it's about Sharon Tate's murder. I was like, "That's just freaking me out. I don't know why. It sounds awful." He said, "No, that's not what it's about. It's about that time period and that year." Although it certainly has nothing to do with me and I'm not sure quite sure why, but I was thinking, "Don't make a movie about that!" I was happy that he could put my mind to rest on a completely random thing like that." Cannot blame her a BIT. But ultimately Geimer says the apology did make a difference, just as the one from Polanski did many years later. She says: "I think apologies go a long way to help the person who was wronged and the person that is apologizing. I often say I don't need them, but in truth, they always have a positive impact... Talking to Quentin, I know he just wasn't thinking and I didn't take it personally the way he was talking on Howard Stern. But then once I saw it in writing the next day, I realized, it did make me feel better. So, apologies — I think you should take them, even if you don't want them." As for people being offended on her behalf, she's sick of it. In her opinion people should spend less time policing jokes and gaffes and more time fighting for real change: "I am one of those people who thinks that you can have humor about anything. I have a good sense of humor, and when people make jokes about me, I laugh. I think that people should just take their indignation and not watch people they find offensive. If you don't think it's funny, you don't think it's funny. You don't have to apologize for making a joke unless you really screw it up. Apologies should be sincere. I don't think we should apologize for stuff we don't feel sorry for. All this nitpicking and attacking people is missing the point. It's like, hey, could we have some equal rights over here? How about equal pay? Perhaps stop sexually harassing people at work? Instead, it's all, "Quentin Tarantino made shitty jokes!" No, women, focus. It's not all about celebrities and taking people down. Let's be positive and move forward. I think being spiteful and taking people down you don't like them isn't helping anybody. We all see what's happening. If you're not doing something positive, if you're not making a difference, stop pretending you are. Just be like, "I hate that guy." [laughs] I'm in a weird spot. I've been in this weird spot my whole life. People are like, "We hate Roman because of what he did to you." I'm fine, I don't want anybody to hate anybody, and you actually don't give a shit about me. What bothers me is that people are attacking somebody else at your expense. Let's throw your rape out there to attack Quentin Tarantino. That hypocrisy bothers me because I'm in that spot where that happens to me. This is just the way it goes, in my life anyway, and we all say stupid things." What do YOU think of Geimer's take? [Image via ITV/FayesVision/WENN.].....»»

When Howard brought up Polanski, I incorrectly played devil’s advocate in the debate for the sake of being provocative. I didn’t take Ms. Geimer’s feelings into consideration and for that I am truly sorry. So, Ms. Geimer, I was ignorant, and insensitive, and above all, incorrect. I am sorry Samantha. Hilary Duff is catching some heat over her decision to play Sharon Tate in a new “psychological horror” film entitled The Haunting of Sharon Tate. Most of the hostility aimed her way is coming from the sister of the slain, Debra Tate, but also a few others who feel the plot is insensitive. I’d say her sister is overreacting but it’s hard to argue that she is. She most likely just watched the reenactment of her sister’s murder on American Horror Story: Cult this past season and to see it again so soon in a major motion picture must be pretty upsetting. But Hollywood doesn’t give a flying feather about anyone’s feelings if the project is projected to make millions. The film, written and directed by Daniel Farrands, takes a look at the last days leading up to Tate’s murder from her point of view. The plot is inspired by an actual quote from Tate, from an interview published a year before her death, wherein she reveals having dreams about ghosts haunting her house and foreseeing her own death at the hands of a satanic cult. Hilary Duff has a child and isn’t exactly the big name she once was in the early to mid 2000s. She needs something more substantial than the checks she’s getting from her Younger show. Playing Tate is probably tasteless but her kid has to eat. Right now is the perfect opportunity for a horror film to succeed with franchises like Insidious being beaten to death and dragged through the mud. With the promise of Sharon and her unborn being sliced up on screen you may even have more adults in the audience than the normal wave of teens looking for a horror high. Quentin Tarantino KNEW Harvey Weinstein "Did A Couple Of These Things" — Read His Confession In Frank New Interview!

And now he's finally, publicly acknowledging that hard truth. Related: All 45+ Women Who Have Accused Harvey Weinstein So Far In a very confessional interview with The New York Times out on Thursday, the Django Unchained director declares: "Everyone who was close to Harvey had heard of at least one of those incidents. It was impossible they didn't." As for himself, he addresses a few of the incidents involving well-known actresses, including the fact Harvey had reached a settlement with Rose McGowan over her alleged rape way back in 1997. Quentin admits: "I knew enough to do more than I did... There was more to it than just the normal rumors, the normal gossip. It wasn't secondhand. I knew he did a couple of these things." He says his inaction now fills him with shame and remorse: "I wish I had taken responsibility for what I heard. If I had done the work I should have done then, I would have had to not work with him." That would have been a start. Related: LAPD Opens Harvey Weinstein Rape Investigation So why didn't he? He begins to explain: "What I did was marginalize the incidents." Though he already realizes: "Anything I say now will sound like a crappy excuse." Yep. Specifically, Quentin addresses the incident he was most familiar with, Harvey's unwanted advances toward Mira Sorvino. The director heard all about it directly from the Mighty Aphrodite star when the two dated shortly after. When she relayed the story she would wait over 20 years to tell publicly as part of Ronan Farrow's New Yorker exposé, Quentin says he didn't understand it as a pattern of a predator but as an isolated incident: "I was shocked and appalled... I couldn't believe he would do that so openly. I was like: ‘Really? Really?' But the thing I thought then, at the time, was that he was particularly hung up on Mira... I thought Harvey was hung up on her in this Svengali kind of way. Because he was infatuated with her, he horribly crossed the line." Quentin ultimately brushed off even what he knew was "crossing the line" because his attitude at the time was that his own presence in the situation would put a stop to it. He recalls thinking: "I'm with her, he knows that, he won't mess with her, he knows that she's my girlfriend." Weinstein didn't go after Mira again, so that seemed to be that. Though obviously it wasn't. Related: France's Got Talent Judge Accused Of Sexual Misconduct Against NINE Women, Including A 14-Year-Old! Tarantino says he heard other stories through the grapevine over the years but admits they didn't weigh on him either: "I chalked it up to a '50s-'60s era image of a boss chasing a secretary around the desk. As if that's O.K. That's the egg on my face right now." After taking some time to come to terms with his own complicity, Quentin says he now believes Hollywood has been "operating under an almost Jim Crow-like system that us males have almost tolerated": "We allowed it to exist because that's the way it was." Now Quentin says he's through keeping his eyes and mouth shut -- and hopes his colleagues will do likewise: "I'm calling on the other guys who knew more to not be scared. Don't just give out statements. Acknowledge that there was something rotten in Denmark. Vow to do better by our sisters." Ultimately, Tarantino, who worked with Weinstein for decades, says he is still perplexed by all the things he's read about the man he thought he knew: "I don't have an answer for why he could do this and be stripped of his entire legacy." As for whether he believes the public will forever link him and his film legacy to Harvey's misdeeds, he says simply: "I don't know. I hope it doesn't." The 27-year-old Oscar nominee, who plays the controversial athlete in I, Tonya, dished to James Corden while making an appearance with Peter Rabbit co-star Domhnall Gleeson on The Late Late Show about how her awards show date wasn’t afraid to walk up to Meryl Streep. “Omg, she was so much fun to have there. Tonya anyway is very unapologetic about who she is and that’s kind of liberating sometimes, especially if you are at a fancy event because she just was not afraid to go up to anyone and say hi and get a picture,” Margot said. “She was like, ‘Oh, there’s Meryl. I’m gonna go say hi.’” “She didn’t know who people were at all,” Margot added. “That was even more hilarious. At one point she was like, ‘That is the lovely lady who helped me in the photo line at the beginning.’ She’s like, ‘Hi! Hi!’ waving, and I was like, ‘That’s Sharon Stone. Sharon Stone’s the lovely lady?’” Margot and Domhnall also took part in a hilarious sketch with James where he goes a little overboard to play the lead role of Peter Rabbit – Watch after the cut!
