Miss Massachusetts Contestant Resigns Her Title Over Pageant"s Skit Mocking #MeToo!

Maude Gorman may no longer be competing for the title of Miss Massachusetts — but she's already won our hearts! The beauty queen -- and badass CrossFit athlete -- resigned her title as Miss Plymouth County last week after an offensive sketch mocked the #MeToo Movement. Apparently while Miss America at large is leaving the swimsuit competition behind, many local pageants leading up to it are reluctant to drop the portion. Related: Todd Chrisley To Be Named Miss California USA Director — With A Whole Reality Show About It! In a skit during the final competition of Miss Massachusetts, a contestant praying to God says she can't understand why swimsuits had to go, and God responds "Me Too" -- to boisterous applause. See the ugh moment for yourself (below): But Maude Gorman was not clapping. She told CNN it was at that moment backstage that she decided she no longer wanted to be a part of the organization: "I instantly knew I had to do something. It was going to eat away at me if I didn't... we were all shocked. We said, 'Oh my god. I cannot believe that just happened. Did that just really happen?' I wasn't comfortable staying as Miss Plymouth County. It went against everything I have worked hard for. I was Miss Massachusetts World in 2015. I saw myself as a leader in the community and made appearances to speak out about sexual assault and tell my story." Maude was gang raped at only 13 years old. She remained silent about the incident for three years, developing PTSD. She now bravely shares her story to help others who are suffering in silence. That's why, as she said in her post announcing her resignation that she could not just "let it go": "Instead, I will stand up for every individual who has ever had the courage to speak out; and for every person who felt liberated by the #metoo movement. I will not allow ANYONE to take away that empowerment and liberation, or make it anything less than what it is: AMAZING." See her entire, inspiring message on Instagram (below): Today, I officially resigned from the title of Miss Plymouth County 2018. While I’m grateful for the opportunities that @missamerica creates for young women, I am also internally conflicted; as the #metoo movement was mocked on stage during the final competition of Miss Massachusetts. As both a survivor, and advocate for victims rights and sexual violence on a whole, I refuse to stand idly by and simply "let this go". Instead, I will stand up for every individual who has ever had the courage to speak out; and for every person who felt liberated by the #metoo movement. I will not allow ANYONE to take away that empowerment and liberation, or make it anything less than what it is: AMAZING. #metoo #missplymouthcounty #nomore #rainn #surviveandthriveA post shared by Maude Gorman 🇺🇸 (@maudernliving) on Jul 5, 2018 at 9:03am PDT Amazing. And just on Sunday, when her story was getting more national coverage, she shared even more about the work more important to her than any crown: I woke up this morning to find that my recent interview with @nbcnews went national. Here are a few things you might not know about my work in advocacy: • I’ve helped built houses with my bare hands for survivors of violence • I’ve advocated to elected officials ranging from local Mayors, to State Governors, and even staff at the White House; including the White House Advisor on Violence against Women. •I’ve spoken at national, and international conferences in an effort to speak out more specifically on the effects of trauma on youth. •I’ve worked with several shelters and homes that offer survivors a safe haven in their transition away from abuse •I’ve partnered with leading hospitals, such as MassGeneral for Children, to provide children seeking emergency treatment for sexual abuse a tote bag of resources (including a change of clothes, teddy bear, coloring books, etc) •I’ve published articles sharing my story, in hopes of inspiring others to do the same; and preventing years of painful secrecy • I’ve had my research on sexual violence shared with child life development specialists of the United States Navy at Norfolk Naval Base in Virginia • I’ve presented at seminars with the Uniformed Victim Advocates of the United States Coast Guard at Base Boston • I’ve advocated for the passing of several bills benefiting survivors of sexual violence • I’ve spoken at rallies, protests, and led walks for justice • I’ve volunteered with the National Alliance on Mental Illness as a public policy associate in an effort to stand up for those suffering from PTSD, and depression; just as I have •I’ve met with colleges and universities to discuss response procedures, and have ran awareness campaigns with both RAINN and Start By Believing * I’ve volunteered as a Rape Crisis Counselor, and acted as a Youth Ambassador for the Youth Access to Support Services program with the Center for Hope and Healing And there is still so much more work to be done, there is still so much more progress to be made, and justice to be found. I will continue to fearlessly defend survivors, and be the voice for those suffering in secrecy. You are not alone #metooA post shared by Maude Gorman 🇺🇸 (@maudernliving) on Jul 8, 2018 at 4:52am PDT Miss Massachusetts organization apologized for offending on its Facebook page immediately after the event. But that doesn't erase the sound of an auditorium collectively scoffing at women being brave in the face of sexual assault. Maude told CNN she's happy to focus on athletics and advocacy: "I am done with pageants. I don't see myself competing again. I am happy with leaving the pageant world behind me." Good for you, gurl! Lifetime Movie IRL: Russian Fugitive Allegedly Poisons New York Friend"s Cheesecake In Attempt To Steal Her Identity!

A Russian woman allegedly tried to murder a lookalike friend by giving her a poison cheesecake so she could steal the woman's identity. According to Queens District Attorney Richard Brown, Viktoria Nasyrova is being held without bail on charges including attempted murder, burglary, reckless endangerment, assault, unlawful imprisonment, grand larceny, and possession of stolen property. The statement alleges that Nasyrova, a Russia native currently living in Brooklyn, had similar features to her friend Olga Tsvyk. Both possessed dark hair, the same complexion, and spoke Russian. Related: Police Respond After Tori Spelling Has Apparent Breakdown Nasyrova had allegedly been on the run from the Russian law for two years -- so when she discovered that Tsvyk had an affinity for cheesecake, the alleged fugitive saw the perfect opportunity to serve herself a new identity. During the summer of 2016, the 42-year-old Nasyrova allegedly laced a piece of cheesecake with phenazepam — a powerful Russian-made tranquilizer — before bringing it to her dear friend. The 35-year-old Queens woman "began to feel sick" after eating the deadly dessert before passing out -- she later told investigators she last remembered seeing Nasyrova beside her inside her home. Nasyrova then allegedly staged the scene to look like a suicide. Brown's statement explained: "The following day, the victim's friend discovered her unconscious in her bed, dressed in lingerie with pills scattered around her body — as if the woman had attempted to kill herself." Luckily, the 35-year-old Queens woman survived the poisoning after being taken to the hospital for treatment. Related: Rehab Owner Convicted Of Drugging & Sexually Assaulting Patients After being released from the hospital, she returned home and "realized that her passport and employment authorization card were missing, along with a gold ring and cash." While Nasyrova reportedly managed to evade authorities for nearly a year, she was captured March 20, 2017. And, like all convincing Lifetime movie villains, she has an impressively felonious backstory. Nasyrova is wanted in Russia on murder charges in the 2014 death of Alla Aleksenko. Officials say Nasyrova fled to New York after she was accused of swindling the 54-year-old out of her money. Nasyrova allegedly then seduced the lead detective in her prosecution, convincing him to facilitate her escape. She has denied any involvement in Aleksenko's death, and has not yet entered a plea to the charges in the indictment. Poisoning cheesecake, seducing Russian prosecutors... this needs to be a Lifetime movie STAT. [Image via Facebook.].....»»

Pageant sources are telling us EXCLUSIVELY that the Miss Universe Miss USA organization is going to have a new Miss California USA Director after ending their contracts with Pam Wilson and Alex Kuty. An insider shared Todd Chrisley will become the new Director! In case you didn't know, the reality TV star is already a Director for Miss Florida, and that will seemingly continue to be the case even with California. Photos: Biggest Beauty Pageant Scandals! On top of that, a reality show on USA, the network behind Chrisley Knows Best, is in the future, sponsored by Maverick TV and their USA company All3Media. Guess that explains how Chrisley was put up for the new gig! Anyway, there's been no word on whether Wilson and Kuty's termination has anything to do with California pageant girls going to other states to compete (and winning in those states!) just to avoid the supposedly lower production quality and treatment by the duo -- but we can't imagine it helped their case. Kuty has already confirmed her termination, adding she's the "Former Executive Director, Miss California USA at Miss Universe Organization" to her Facebook profile, but no official announcement has been made on any of the changes coming to Miss California USA! We'll keep you posted!.....»»

John Bernecker died after falling head-first onto a concrete floor from 22-feet above and his mother Susan says the network cut corners when it came to safety precautions. Susan is accusing AMC of putting profits ahead of safety and skimping on the show’s stunt budget. She says the network did not provide adequate cushioning beneath the balcony, did not ensure that the scene was rehearsed and did not have an ambulance on scene. “The AMC defendants orchestrated and enforced a pattern of filming and producing The Walking Dead cheaply and ultimately unsafely. As part of this emphasis, the AMC defendants pressured Stalwart Films to maintain unreasonably low budgets and expenses for episodes, including the budget allotted to stunts. Accordingly, the production of The Walking Dead repeatedly cut corners on safety precautions,” the suit reads. In a statement, AMC commented on their safety standards. “Our thoughts and prayers are and have been with John Bernecker, his family, friends and everyone touched by this tragic accident since the moment it occurred. We take the safety of our employees on all of our sets extremely seriously, and meet or exceed industry safety standards. Out of respect for the family, we will have no further comment on this litigation,” the network said......»»

Leaked Miss America CEO Emails Reveal Fat-Shaming, Slut-Shaming, & Name-Calling!

HuffPost got their hands on three years of internal emails from the Miss America organization, thanks to two inside sources disturbed by what they regularly saw. Now CEO Sam Haskell (above, right) and head writer Lewis Friedman have a lot to answer for. Related: Miss Texas DRAGGED Donald Trump For Failing To Properly Condemn White Supremacy In their convos, they fat-shamed, slut-shamed, and used sexist language against pageant winners and contestants. In one email, Haskell wrote: "I have decided that when referring to a woman who was once Miss America, we are no longer going to call them Forever Miss Americas....please change all script copy to reflect that they are Former Miss Americas!" To which Friedman responded: "I'd already changed "Forevers" to "Cunts." Does that work for you?" Haskell shot back: "Perfect...bahahaha." In August 2014, Haskell got an email about 2013 Miss America Mallory Hagan, who was infamously fat-shamed after her win. Apparently her hairdresser had been telling stories publicly about her sex life. Haskell shared this with Friedman, saying: "Not a single day passes that I am not told some horrible story about Mallory." Friedman responded: "Mallory's preparing for her new career … as a blimp in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade As she continues to destroy her own credibility, her voice will attract less and less notice while she continues her descent to an unhappy pathetic footnote... Ps. Are we four the only ones not to have fucked Mallory?" Haskell approved, saying: "It appears we are the only ones!" He then shared a story about Hagan "seducing" a friend's son. He joked he had to break the news to the mother: "I told her he needs to have a blood test because we lost count of the number of men she slept with at 25." In December 2014, Friedman wrote to Haskell to give his condolences on the death of "former" Mary Ann Mobley. The subject line was: "It should have been Kate Shindle." (Kate Shindle was crowned Miss America in 1998.) Haskell responded: "Thanks so much Coach...even in my sadness you can make me laugh...how was the Kennedy Center Honors? Love you and appreciate you! Sam." Eesh! Related: First Woman With Down Syndrome Competed In The Miss Minnesota USA Pageant! In response to all this, a Miss America Organization spokesman revealed Friedman had already been fired over an investigation into the emails: "The Miss America Organization Board of Directors was notified about the concern of inappropriate language in email communications several months ago. Consequently, the organization's Board of Directors took the allegations of inappropriate comments very seriously and formed an investigative committee. As a result of the investigation, the Board directed the organization terminate the relationship with most egregious author of inappropriate comments. In addition, the Board has started the process of instituting additional policies and procedures for communication." As for Haskell, we'll have to wait and see. [Image via Twitter.].....»»

Miss America Pageant Apologizes For Insensitive Me Too Joke

Women’s bodies aren’t built how they used to be, so instead of encouraging dieting it’s easier to do away with an entire swimsuit competition. Wouldn’t want to offend anyone. Which is damn near impossible these days. Unsurprisingly, a joke told at the Miss Massachusetts event for the Miss America competition offended a few people. This is truly turning into a planet where we can not have nice things like comedy or admire how well a woman fills out her swimwear. Here is the offending joke told by an emcee during a skit on stage at the event: “We may have well seen the last ever swimsuit competition on stage. It’s very upsetting and I’m trying to understand, God, why it happened.” “Me too, Amy,” said the man, who also held a sign reading #MeToo just in case anyone didn’t get the joke. The apology from Rich Allegretto (man responsible for the joke) on Miss Massachusetts Org: “I would like to set the record straight about the skit during the Miss Massachusetts finals. First and most importantly, my sincere apologies to those who drew any parallels between a joke about the swimsuit competition and sexual assault,” said Rich Allegretto. “The skit was meant as a satirical poke at those who are upset that swimsuit is going away. It was intended to be a nod to the #MeToo movement, not a knock on it.” What rubbed the people the wrong way here is the fact that some people honestly believe Me Too is above being used as a punchline. It’s just another instance of something else in this world that doesn’t make sense like overweight security guards. First no swimsuits, and now no one is allowed to joke about it? Miss America will soon be known as the prude pageant where overdressed women do nothing but discuss their day at work while eating snacks. So basically it’s heading in the direction of becoming a televised book club. I already miss the days where well endowed women slipped down to their bathing suits and pretended to care about the tons of plastic in the ocean. Hopefully cable TV buckles before the Miss America competition meets its demise. Russian Model Arrested After Jumping From The Sixth Floor Of A Hotel To Escape Alleged Rapist

This is seriously concerning. According to recent reports, a Russian model is "in custody" in Dubai after she leapt from a hotel's sixth floor to escape a man who was allegedly trying to rape and kill her. What the heck?? Related: Nick Gordon Arrested AGAIN For Violating No-Contact Order The 22-year-old alleged victim, named Ekaterina Stetsyuk, found herself with a broken spine after she miraculously survived a fall which occurred after she turned down sex with a "foreign man." Per the Daily Mirror, Ekaterina's mother Inge says her daughter was threatened by an American businessman, who put a knife to Stetsyuk's throat. Close friend Irina Grossman shared: "To save her life and dignity, she jumped from the sixth floor. She survived by a miracle. Her spine is broken, several vertebras [sic] were crushed. She cannot walk or move by herself, but doctors are giving good forecasts because her spinal chord is intact." However, Ekaterina is now the one in custody, as her supposed attacker made a counter claim. Apparently, he told the police that Stetsyuk attacked him and he was forced to defend himself. While the brunette model isn't imprisoned, she is "in custody" in her hospital bed. At first, despite having several crushed vertebrae, Ekaterina seemed in good spirits. In a video from her hospital bed, she told loved ones: "I am doing well, do not worry about me. People from the (Russian) consulate visited... My surgery was postponed. We'll see how it goes. All will be fine, do not worry. (Friend's name) has come to see me, all ok. All is fine mummy, I love you. Kisses. I have got everything." However, after one particular phone call, Inge has become more and more concerned for her daughter's well being. She added: "The attack took place on 3 March. A man, a foreigner, attacked Katya, grabbed her neck and put a knife at her throat. My daughter tried to save her life, she had to jump from the sixth floor. She has serious injuries, she can't walk. And yesterday Katya [Ekaterina's nickname] called and said she would be taken to jail. They want to make her guilty." It's said that Stetsyuk's attacker was detained at the airport as he tried to flee Dubai. The unnamed man faces up to 15 years in jail if convicted for the attack. It was during an interrogation that Ekaterina became a suspect, as the man made damning claims against the model. In addition to trying to raise £11,000 for medical costs, Inge is fighting back at those accusing her daughter of being an escort. She defended: "My daughter is a well known model in Irkutsk. On 15 February she left for Dubai for a month where she had a contract." Understandably, as the laws are different in Dubai, this gossip is likely to "cause her more trouble." While the Russian consulate has asked Ekaterina's loved ones to stay silent on the matter, Inge isn't sure whom she can trust. In fact, she plans to fly to Dubai as soon as possible. Gocha Buachidze, the Russian Counsel in Dubai, gave this update on the concerning situation: "We are thoroughly studying the situation around Russian citizen Ekaterina Stetsyuk and we are providing all necessary support to her. The investigation is in progress. The Consulate cannot give any more details of the accident due to the request of the citizen herself." We're certain this isn't the last we've heard of this controversy. Be sure to check back for any and all updates! [Image via Instagram.].....»»

Russian News Outlets Are PISSED At Morgan Freeman For Trying To Expose "Former KGB Spy" Vladimir Putin!

The actor is getting attacked by Russian media for starring in a Rob Reiner-produced video in which he accuses Vladimir Putin of meddling in the U.S. election. Freeman starts out by pitching a movie script centering around a salty KGB spy that uses the chaos of the Soviet Union's collapse to launch his way into politics, and later gets revenge on the U.S. through cyber attacks and spreading false information. It's at this point in the video where Freeman reveals he isn't describing a movie, but the real life events of "former KGB spy" Putin! He then urges POTUS to tell the nation that "during this past election, we came under attack by the Russian government." Related: Russian Accounts Likely Bought $100,000 In Ads Around The Election! Needless to say, the Russian media was not enthused with Freeman's attempt at whistleblowing. Labeling him "Hysterical Freeman," news outlets brought in psychiatrists who say he has a "Messianic complex" from playing God and the President. Other anchors called the actor an overworked pothead. The Kremlin, however, is simply shaking it off. Press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Putin was not taking the video seriously, as its claims were "groundless and of an exclusively emotional character." Well, if The Committee to Investigate Russia can't use this story to expose the Russian President, at least it could make for one hell of a political thriller! Ch-ch-check out the controversial video (below). [Image via C-SPAN/YouTube.].....»»
