The Weinstein Company Knew About Harvey"s Settlements With Victims For YEARS!

For shame, TWC!! Related: Harvey Being Investigated For Sexual Assault In England According to The New York Times, back in 2015, the company was informed of at least three or four settlements. David Boies, the lawyer who represented Harvey during this time, confirmed to the paper that TWC knew about several payouts. This directly contradicts what Harvey's brother Bob Weinstein and company chief David Glasser told staffers in a meeting on Tuesday. Board member Lance Maerov admits he did know of settlements as he handled the contract talks; however, Maerov says he assumed these were cash payouts to keep consensual affairs under wraps. Hmm. Maerov also assured the Times he only approved of the contract once he was assured that no company money was used in the settlements AND that there were no pending complaints against Weinstein (at the time). Unsurprisingly, Bob and Glasser declined to comment on the update. Looks like the TWC board members have some 'splainin' to do... [Image via Media Punch.].....»»

Sadly, now we're hearing one from Lupita Nyong'o. Related: All 45+ Women Who Have Accused Harvey Weinstein So Far The Black Panther actress opened up in a lengthy New York Times op-ed on Thursday, in which she says she felt "a flare of rage" in learning how many women had been through what she had: "I had shelved my experience with Harvey far in the recesses of my mind, joining in the conspiracy of silence that has allowed this predator to prowl for so many years. I had felt very much alone when these things happened, and I had blamed myself for a lot of it, quite like many of the other women who have shared their stories. But now that this is being discussed openly, I have not been able to avoid the memories resurfacing. I have felt sick in the pit of my stomach." Here is her story: "I met Harvey Weinstein in 2011 at an awards ceremony in Berlin, while I was still a student at the Yale School of Drama. An intermediary introduced him to me as "the most powerful producer in Hollywood." As an aspiring actress, I was of course eager to meet people in the industry but cautious about strangers, and the intentions of men in general." She asked her dinner companions about Harvey and was given the typical response that he could be "a bully" -- which meant it was better to have him in her corner than against her. Ultimately she says he was somewhat "charming" despite his directness, and that "he didn't alarm" her at first. So when he invited her to watch a screening of a film with his family at his home in Connecticut -- near where she was living in New Haven -- she accepted. Related: Channing Tatum Cuts All Ties With The Weinstein Company His family was actually there, at least. But when they all gathered to watch the film, that's when Harvey pounced: "I settled in for the film, but about 15 minutes in, Harvey came for me, saying he wanted to show me something. I protested that I wanted to finish the film first, but he insisted I go with him, laying down the law as though I too was one of his children." In his home with his children there. Ick. "Harvey led me into a bedroom — his bedroom — and announced that he wanted to give me a massage. I thought he was joking at first. He was not. For the first time since I met him, I felt unsafe. I panicked a little and thought quickly to offer to give him one instead: It would allow me to be in control physically, to know exactly where his hands were at all times... He agreed to this and lay on the bed. I began to massage his back to buy myself time to figure out how to extricate myself from this undesirable situation. Before long he said he wanted to take off his pants. I told him not to do that and informed him that it would make me extremely uncomfortable. He got up anyway to do so and I headed for the door, saying that I was not at all comfortable with that. 'If we're not going to watch the film, I really should head back to school,' I said. I opened the door and stood by the frame. He put his shirt on and again mentioned how stubborn I was. I agreed with an easy laugh, trying to get myself out of the situation safely. I was after all on his premises, and the members of his household, the potential witnesses, were all (strategically, it seems to me now) in a soundproof room." That time, Lupita was able to leave somewhat easily enough. She says she even justified the massage request to herself, though it helped that Harvey had enticed her with the possibility of a job (on an HBO show she later found out was already off the air). But she was still uneasy with Harvey, so when he invited her to a reading of the play version of Finding Neverland, she politely refused -- until he told her she could bring anyone she wanted. She attended with two male friends. Related: Quentin Tarantino Knew Harvey 'Did A Couple Of These Things'! Nothing untoward happened the entire evening, including when a large group went out for dinner and drinks. So the next time he invited her to a screening -- this time of Madonna's film W.E. -- she accepted. "Feeling more confident about the new sense of boundaries that we had established in our last meeting, I attended the screening on my own this time. Afterward, as planned, his male assistant arranged for me to get to the Tribeca Grill, where Harvey would be joining us. I met a female assistant when I arrived there. I was expecting that it would be a group of us, as it had been for the reading, but she informed me it would just be Mr. Weinstein. She would sit with me until he arrived. She seemed on edge, but I could only imagine how stressful it was to work for a man who had so much going on." As with other stories we've heard, the assistant "immediately disappeared" after Harvey arrived. And this time he was direct: "Before the starters arrived, he announced: 'Let's cut to the chase. I have a private room upstairs where we can have the rest of our meal.' I was stunned. I told him I preferred to eat in the restaurant. He told me not to be so naïve. If I wanted to be an actress, then I had to be willing to do this sort of thing. He said he had dated Famous Actress X and Y and look where that had gotten them. I was silent for a while before I mustered up the courage to politely decline his offer. 'You have no idea what you are passing up,' he said. 'With all due respect, I would not be able to sleep at night if I did what you are asking, so I must pass,' I replied." That's when Lupita knew Harvey was through with her; she asked him if they were good and recalls his chilling response: "'I don't know about your career, but you'll be fine,' he said. It felt like both a threat and a reassurance at the same time; of what, I couldn't be sure." Lupita made a vow to herself never to work with Weinstein, a vow she kept when he tried to entice her following her Oscar win for 12 Years A Slave. Related: LAPD Opens Harvey Weinstein Rape Investigation She explains why she's telling her story now -- for all the women who are like she was: "I share all of this now because I know now what I did not know then. I was part of a growing community of women who were secretly dealing with harassment by Harvey Weinstein. But I also did not know that there was a world in which anybody would care about my experience with him. You see, I was entering into a community that Harvey Weinstein had been in, and even shaped, long before I got there. He was one of the first people I met in the industry, and he told me, "This is the way it is." And wherever I looked, everyone seemed to be bracing themselves and dealing with him, unchallenged. I did not know that things could change. I did not know that anybody wanted things to change. So my survival plan was to avoid Harvey and men like him at all costs, and I did not know that I had allies in this." She concludes: "Now that we are speaking, let us never shut up about this kind of thing. I speak up to make certain that this is not the kind of misconduct that deserves a second chance. I speak up to contribute to the end of the conspiracy of silence. Amen, sister. You can read her full op-ed HERE. [Image via Apega/Michael Wright/WENN.].....»»

On Thursday, actress Claire Forlani took to Twitter to reveal that she escaped sexual harassment from Weinstein on FIVE different occasions. How awful!!! Related: The Weinstein Co. Totally Knew About Harvey's Settlements With Victims! The 45-year-old, who appeared in the Miramax-distributed Boys and Girls, shared with her followers: "You see, nothing happened to me with Harvey — by that I mean, I escaped 5 times... I had two Peninsula Hotel meetings in the evening with Harvey and all I remember was I ducked, dived and ultimately got out of there without getting slobbered over, well just a bit. Yes, massage was suggested. The three dinners with Harvey I don't really remember the time period, I was 25. I remember him telling me all the actresses who had slept with him and what he had done for them. I wasn't drinking the cool aid [sic], I knew Harvey was a master manipulator. He also announced to me at the last dinner I had with him at Dominic's that his pilot knew to be on standby because he could never get me to sleep with him, to which I did what I always did, make light of the situation, a joke here or there and moved on. You see, I always thought I was a pro at handling these guys, I'd had a fair amount of experience. Sometimes I got angry, really angry. I wondered why I had Prey stamped on my forehead but this I kept to myself." We feel just awful for Miz Forlani. Although the Meet Joe Black star wanted to speak out against Weinstein for Ronan Farrow's New Yorker piece, she ultimately decided not to comment for the story. Why?? Well, because, her friends advised her not to. The Meet Joe Black star definitely regrets not speaking with Farrow, as she continued: "[Farrow] didn't mention that it was about Harvey but when I received the email I instinctively knew it was going to be. I told some close men around me and they all advised me not to speak. I had already told Ronan I would speak with him but from the advice around me, interestingly the male advice around me, I didn't make the call. Today I sit here feeling some shame, like I'm not a woman supporting other women. I just read Mira Sorvino's article in Time and she writes of how scared she was to speak out and participate. I take little solace in that." We're just proud that Claire is speaking out now. Sadly, Forlani's experience with Weinstein isn't the only negative one she has faced in Hollywood. Per Claire's statement, she had another "disgusting" encounter with a director who harassed Thandie Newton. She added: "I remember when Thandie Newton spoke out about a director that I had also had a disgusting experience with and I felt scared even reading what she said publicly about him, thinking, ‘Damn, she's gonna get crucified for that. 'Yet I was in awe for her bravery and balls, she was a female crusader, modern suffragette and I loved her for it. But I also knew I didn't have those balls, too scared of the repercussions this was because when you did react or tell a man to shove it, there were always repercussions. I was punished when I was brave. So I learned to let it go and carry on." Don't be so hard on yourself, Claire! There's no easy way to take on a predator. Hopefully, there are enough admissions that have come out to solidify the indie movie mogul's excommunication from Hollywood. Fingers crossed. Fair point. She continued: "It came as a shock and a great disappointment... I only met Harvey when I was old and Harvey goes for young because that's more vulnerable." After bringing up Bill Cosby, Jane added: "I'm glad it's coming out, I'm so proud of those fellow actors that are speaking up. I know that it has taken a long time. It is a very, very, very hard thing to do... You don't get anything out of it as the person who has been victimized but it is important that it come out. Let's not think that this is some unique, horrific... this goes on all the time, this male entitlement in Hollywood and everywhere - in offices and businesses all over the world, in bars, in restaurants, in stores women are assaulted, abused, harassed." Model Zoe Brock Details Being "Harveyed" By Harvey Weinstein — Read Her Upsetting Account HERE

Following the explosive New York Times exposé which detailed the indie movie mogul's decades of sexual harassment, several women have come forward to discuss their unsavory experiences with Weinstein. One of the latest people to speak out is model Zoe Brock. Related: Nelly Responds To Sexual Assault Arrest It's been 20 years since Miz Brock's encounter with Harvey, but she clearly remembers how he allegedly lured her back to his hotel room and begged for a massage. Now, if you read the Times coverage, you know that was Weinstein's total M.O. Per Zoe's Medium post, she was only 23 years old when she was "Harveyed." Apparently, the New Zealand-born beauty met Weinstein in 1997 while they were both at the Cannes Film Festival. She revealed: "I met Harvey Weinstein in Cannes at the Film Festival. We were seated next to each other at a fancy dinner. I didn't catch his name and assumed I was talking to another hungry producer trying to sell a little movie to the big wigs. Feeling sorry for him, I went out of my way to be entertaining and nice. It wasn't until later in the meal that I asked the name of his production company." After learning that they had a mutual friend in common, the two industry professionals spent some time together at the film festival. Zoe continued: "With a dear mutual friend in common I felt safe with Harvey. The night was young and so was I. After dinner our large group, which included my Italian modeling agent, a few rich douchebags, some decorative models, and Harvey's entourage, rolled out into the Cannes night. Black town cars and gleaming limos took us to various parties where we glittered and shone like everyone else. Harvey and his assistant, Ben Silverman, never left my side." While the conversation between Zoe and Harvey could've been misconstrued as flirtatious, Brock insists that she only felt "platonic energy" for him. Which makes it so much more troubling that Weinstein and his assistant seemingly manipulated it so that she was separated from her friends: "My group was ushered into one car and I was somehow separated from them and told to get into another car with Harvey and his two friends. Stupidly, I obliged. I was told we were all going to the same place. To this day I do not know if my Italian agent was in on the ruse. My instincts tell me he was." How awful. Things only got worse for Zoe as she relayed: "The energy shifted and I became very uncomfortable... And suddenly I was alone in a remote hotel suite with Harvey fucking Weinstein. My body went into high alert. I was drunk, young, miles from home, without cash to get a cab, and no cell phone... It was time to sober up, and fast." To make matters worse, Harvey moved quickly to proposition Zoe as he was naked and asking for massage almost as soon as they were alone. The model added: "Harvey left the room, but not for long. He re-emerged naked a couple of minutes later and asked if I would give him a massage. Panicking, in shock, I remember weighing up the options and wondering how much I needed to placate him to keep myself safe. He asked if I would like a massage instead, and for a second I thought this might be a way to give him an inch without him taking a mile. I told him I was uncomfortable and that I was angry that I had been tricked into this position. He pleaded with me to let him massage me and I let him put his hands on my shoulders while my mind raced." In an attempt to escape the filmmaker, Zoe locked herself in the bathroom as Harvey pleaded with her to come out. After reprimanding Harvey through a locked door, Brock eventually emerged and found Weinstein whimpering on the bed: "Harvey, contrite, promised to cover himself and leave me alone. I came out of the bathroom and found him sitting on his bed, wearing a bathrobe, crying. 'You don't like me because I'm fat.' He whimpered." Tsk, tsk. Supposedly, the assistant tried to apologize as Zoe has claimed he told her: "'I'm so sorry,' he said. 'I want you to know that of all the girls he does this to you are the one I really felt bad about. You deserve better.'" Ben Silverman, if you're reading this, SHAME ON YOU. Smh. According to Zoe, Weinstein let her stay at his suite at the Majestic Hotel. However, after a friend warned her that Harvey would be back in the morning, the brunette fled the hotel room at 6 a.m. In an attempt to downplay the scandalous nature of their encounter, Harvey sent Zoe red roses and booked a private movie screening for her at the festival. Both presents were unwanted. Be sure to read Zoe's full account for yourself HERE. [Image via Facebook/WENN.].....»»

Harvey Weinstein Gives First Interview Since Times Exposé: "They Told Me Lies"

As we reported, on Thursday, The New York Times published a shocking report accusing Harvey Weinstein of "decades of sexual harassment," which has led him to reaching "at least eight settlements with women." Although the movie producer released a statement to the newspaper saying he is "remorseful about the people I hurt and I plan to do right by all of them," his lawyer Charles Harder announced plans for a lawsuit against the Times for publishing "a story that is saturated with false and defamatory statements." Related: These Celebs Have Been Accused Of Sexual Misconduct! So why is The Weinstein Company co-founder apologizing for his bad behavior, yet suing the newspaper for calling him out on it? On the same day, Harvey gave an interview to Page Six where he tries clarify the confusion. He said: "What I am saying is that I bear responsibility for my actions, but the reason I am suing is because of the Times' inability to be honest with me, and their reckless reporting. They told me lies. They made assumptions... The Times had a deal with us that they would tell us about the people they had on the record in the story, so we could respond appropriately, but they didn't live up to the bargain... The Times editors were so fearful they were going to be scooped by New York Magazine and they would lose the story, that they went ahead and posted the story filled with reckless reporting, and without checking all they had with me and my team." In fact, he believes the publication is out to make him look bad. "They never wrote about the documentary I did with JAY-Z about Rikers Island, they never write that I raised $50 million for amfAR, nor my work with Robin Hood – instead they focus on trying to bring me down. This is a vendetta, and the next time I see Dean Baquet [the executive editor of the Times] it will be across a courtroom." Weinstein believes the chunk of their story is predicated on a 2014 memo written by employee and sexual harassment accuser Lauren O'Connor. "The Times used that entire memo as the basis of their story, but in reality it was withdrawn two days after it was written, O'Connor withdrew her complaint, and withdrew her claims made in the memo. The document doesn't stand up." As for Ashley Judd, who went on record accusing him of an inappropriate interaction at the Peninsula Beverly Hills: "They spent six months researching this article then they gave us just 24 hours to answer it. They did tell us that Ashley Judd was on record, but we thought it would be along the lines of what she told Variety." In 2015, the actress told Variety she was sexually harassed by an anonymous movie executive. Harvey continues: "But she changed her story when giving it to the Times. I know Ashley Judd is going through a tough time right now, I read her book [her memoir All That Is Bitter and Sweet], in which she talks about being the victim of sexual abuse and depression as a child. Her life story was brutal, and I have to respect her. In a year from now I am going to reach out to her... I never laid a glove on her." In regards to his alleged eight case settlements: "No company ever talks about settlements, and neither does the recipient, so I don't know how the Times came to this conclusion, but it is pure conjecture, the reporters have made assumptions." However, the studio executive sees the error of his ways, and knows he has "to work on my temper." "I have got to change, I've got to grow, I've got to deal with my personality, I've got to work on my temper, I have got to dig deep. I know a lot of people would like me to go into a facility, and I may well just do that – I will go anywhere I can learn more about myself. I want to be able to look at the people I have hurt and say, 'I am sorry, I have changed and I've progressed.' I am terribly embarrassed for my company, my staff and the only person who could fix this is me. I am going to fix myself, I am going to fix how I deal with women and how I deal with my temper and power."' Despite the drama, wife Georgina Chapman is standing by her man. "She stands 100 percent behind me. Georgina and I have talked about this at length. We went out with Lisa Bloom last night when we knew the article was coming out. Georgina will be with Lisa and others kicking my ass to be a better human being and to apologize to people for my bad behavior, to say I'm sorry, and to absolutely mean it." On the flip side, the New York Times refuses to back down to Harvey's legal threats and is "confident in the accuracy" of its reporting. A spokesperson said: "Mr. Weinstein was aware and able to respond to specific allegations in our story before publication. In fact, we published his response in full." What do U think? And now he's finally, publicly acknowledging that hard truth. Related: All 45+ Women Who Have Accused Harvey Weinstein So Far In a very confessional interview with The New York Times out on Thursday, the Django Unchained director declares: "Everyone who was close to Harvey had heard of at least one of those incidents. It was impossible they didn't." As for himself, he addresses a few of the incidents involving well-known actresses, including the fact Harvey had reached a settlement with Rose McGowan over her alleged rape way back in 1997. Quentin admits: "I knew enough to do more than I did... There was more to it than just the normal rumors, the normal gossip. It wasn't secondhand. I knew he did a couple of these things." He says his inaction now fills him with shame and remorse: "I wish I had taken responsibility for what I heard. If I had done the work I should have done then, I would have had to not work with him." That would have been a start. Related: LAPD Opens Harvey Weinstein Rape Investigation So why didn't he? He begins to explain: "What I did was marginalize the incidents." Though he already realizes: "Anything I say now will sound like a crappy excuse." Yep. Specifically, Quentin addresses the incident he was most familiar with, Harvey's unwanted advances toward Mira Sorvino. The director heard all about it directly from the Mighty Aphrodite star when the two dated shortly after. When she relayed the story she would wait over 20 years to tell publicly as part of Ronan Farrow's New Yorker exposé, Quentin says he didn't understand it as a pattern of a predator but as an isolated incident: "I was shocked and appalled... I couldn't believe he would do that so openly. I was like: ‘Really? Really?' But the thing I thought then, at the time, was that he was particularly hung up on Mira... I thought Harvey was hung up on her in this Svengali kind of way. Because he was infatuated with her, he horribly crossed the line." Quentin ultimately brushed off even what he knew was "crossing the line" because his attitude at the time was that his own presence in the situation would put a stop to it. He recalls thinking: "I'm with her, he knows that, he won't mess with her, he knows that she's my girlfriend." Weinstein didn't go after Mira again, so that seemed to be that. Though obviously it wasn't. Related: France's Got Talent Judge Accused Of Sexual Misconduct Against NINE Women, Including A 14-Year-Old! Tarantino says he heard other stories through the grapevine over the years but admits they didn't weigh on him either: "I chalked it up to a '50s-'60s era image of a boss chasing a secretary around the desk. As if that's O.K. That's the egg on my face right now." After taking some time to come to terms with his own complicity, Quentin says he now believes Hollywood has been "operating under an almost Jim Crow-like system that us males have almost tolerated": "We allowed it to exist because that's the way it was." Now Quentin says he's through keeping his eyes and mouth shut -- and hopes his colleagues will do likewise: "I'm calling on the other guys who knew more to not be scared. Don't just give out statements. Acknowledge that there was something rotten in Denmark. Vow to do better by our sisters." Ultimately, Tarantino, who worked with Weinstein for decades, says he is still perplexed by all the things he's read about the man he thought he knew: "I don't have an answer for why he could do this and be stripped of his entire legacy." As for whether he believes the public will forever link him and his film legacy to Harvey's misdeeds, he says simply: "I don't know. I hope it doesn't." According to TMZ, Harvey Weinstein's 2015 employment contract with The Weinstein Company states that if the producer gets sued for any kind of "misconduct" that results in a settlement or judgement against the company, he simply has to reimburse TWC for the damages, and he keeps his job. Related: Harvey Weinstein's Former Assistant Speaks Out The legal papers also state: "You [Weinstein] will pay the company liquidated damages of $250,000 for the first such instance, $500,000 for the second such instance, $750,000 for the third such instance, and $1,000,000 for each additional instance." Basically, the 65-year-old could pay his way out of trouble! Although the Board of Directors did fire Weinstein on Sunday, his termination may have been illegal. The contract says Harvey can be fired if he's indicted or convicted of a crime (not the case), if he committed "material fraud against the company" (again, not the case), and even if he did commit fraud, he has the right to arbitration (which he didn't get). A source connected with TWC claims the Board has a right to can the mogul if he didn't disclose his alleged sexual harassment settlements, but there have been no reported settlements since he signed his contract. As we reported on Wednesday, the disgraced exec traveled from Los Angeles to Arizona where he is -- according to TMZ -- staying at the Phoenician Resort before he starts rehab at a facility near Scottsdale. A People source says he is staying at the five-star hotel because "he doesn't want to go a place where he can't use his cell phone." This guy... [Image via WENN.].....»»

As you surely know, Harvey Weinstein has been ousted from The Weinstein Company following his sexual misconduct scandal. Not to mention, according to reports, the disgraced Hollywood heavyweight blames his brother and (now former) business partner, Bob Weinstein for allegedly leaking internal documents detailing decades of sexual harassment allegations to the New York Times. Related: Emma Thompson Slams "Predator" Weinstein While Bob hasn't confirmed this gossip, the 62-year-old has publicly denounced his brother and made it perfectly clear that he in no way condones his flesh-and-blood's behavior. Thus, a showdown is expected when the two brothers both tune in for TWC's Board of Directors meeting. Per TMZ, the Board of Directors has a meeting scheduled for Tuesday where they plan to discuss Harvey's firing. Reportedly, the scandalized industry titan will be present at the meeting via a speakerphone. In case you forgot, Harvey is currently in an Arizona based rehab facility where he is seeking treatment for sex addiction. The movie mogul's lawyer, Patty Glaser, will be in the room at the time of the meeting. It's said Glaser plans to address several points which prove that Harvey's firing violated his contract. Supposedly, TWC never gave Harvey a clear cut reason as to why he was being let go. Right, because it's ~such~ a mystery. *Eye roll* What's even crazier is that the attorney plans to argue that the elder Weinstein did nothing to violate his contract. As you may've heard, a provision was added to Harvey's contract back in 2015 which covers claims such as sexual harassment. The only requirement? Harvey was required to reimburse the company for any settlement and/or legal fees. Oh, and he'd have to pay a fine too. Related: Why Kate Winslet Refused To Thank Harvey In Oscar Speech! Since there were no claims brought against Harvey following the contract negotiation, his employment document should protect him. TWC isn't buying this defense as their code of conduct is what allowed them to let Harvey go. This contract dispute is likely to wind both Weinsteins up. It's believed that Bob, who is said to naturally be hot tempered, is livid about the drama and is expected to go off during the conference call. To make matters worse, if the company is unwilling to go through mediation and arbitration, Glaser will file a lawsuit on Harvey's behalf. An insider told the webloid: "There is so much crap that will be unearthed in a lawsuit, the company just can't survive it." Dramaaaaaa. Be sure to ch-ch-check back for any updates on this Cain-and-Abel-esque beef! [Image via Media Punch.].....»»

Director Says He Was Kicked Off Movie After Harvey Weinstein Didn"t Find His Lead Actress "Fuckable"

"I don't cast films according to Harvey Weinstein's erection." — A quote from director Michael Caton-Jones that should have been published twenty years ago, but wasn't. The role [...] "I don't cast films according to Harvey Weinstein's erection." -- A quote from director Michael Caton-Jones that should have been published twenty years ago, but wasn't. According to a new interview with Buzzfeed, the Scottish filmmaker was kicked off production of B. Monkey because his pick for lead actress wasn't "fuckable," to use Weinstein's term. The role went to Asia Argento instead of British starlet Sophie Okonedo. As we know now, Argento has accused the Hollywood honcho of raping her in 1997. Related: Molly Ringwald Describes YEARS Of Sexual Harassment Caton-Jones first worked with Weinstein 10 years prior on the 1989 film Scandal, when he noted Harvey would only show up to set for sex scenes. They crossed paths again when the Weinstein brothers were attached to the 1998 cult classic. The director said of the extensive casting process: "The basics of the deal was we were going to find an unknown and we were going to cast her as the lead in the film. There was extensive casting. We saw many, many girls, maybe 100 or so. And I ended up — I thought Sophie Okonedo would have been great for the part." "The trouble began" when Sophie and Michael met with Harvey at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills for approval: "Harvey kept saying to me, ‘Do you think she is fuckable?'... That was what the deal was all the time. I said, ‘She is the best actress for the job, Harvey.' And we started arguing about it. It was only when I said to Harvey, ‘Don't screw up the casting of this film because you want to get laid,' whereupon he went mental." When Michael returned to his room to cool off from the argument, he received a call from Variety requesting a comment for a story about him walking off set. Harvey was already covering his tracks. He recalled: "I was furious after being kicked off my film, and I told them all about what happened. I told them about the harassment claims, and I said 'Here is your quote: I don't cast films according to Harvey Weinstein's erection,' and they just laughed." When asked about why his response wasn't included in the original story, a spokesman for the outlet said they couldn't comment on editorial decisions made that long ago under different ownership: "As you know, the publication is under different ownership now, and therefore, we don't have a comment on previous editorial practices." Not long after the incident, Harvey gave Michael Radford the gig as director and cast Argento as the lead. Related: France Planning New Street Harassment Laws According to Caton-Jones' impression of Weinstein: "Sophie Okonedo was not fuckable and that was it. Find someone who is." Even though he was applauded by his close circle for how he handled Harvey's gross behavior, the director still faced repercussions: "I was the stupid one who stood up and told him to go to hell. I stood up to him and told him to go fuck himself. And I got a lot of support from a lot of people when I did that, but you know, I didn't make the film, so he won." As for those saying they were unaware of what was going on all these years, Michael said: "Anyone who didn't know, didn't want to know. It's like Germany after the Second World War — I've never seen so many people not knowing anything. I certainly knew what was going on at the time. And everyone around us pretty much all knew what the score was. You only had to spend five minutes with Harvey to get the nature of the man. He didn't particularly hide who he was." Calling him a "serial sexual predator," the anonymous group of reportedly almost 30 staff members condemn his actions in the pointed piece. Related: The Weinstein Company Is In TROUBLE They add they are aware their statement violates their non-disclosure agreement, but feel Harvey violated their contracts' promise to a safe work environment with his alleged harassment and assault. They wrote: "We came to work at this company because we love movies. We grew up watching Miramax films, and came to associate that name, and later the name Weinstein, with great storytelling... All of us were excited to get the job, proud to be working for a company with such an illustrious history. We all knew that we were working for a man with an infamous temper. We did not know we were working for a serial sexual predator. We knew that our boss could be manipulative. We did not know that he used his power to systematically assault and silence women. We had an idea that he was a womanizer who had extra-marital affairs. We did not know he was a violent aggressor and alleged rapist." They continued: "Our company was built on Harvey's unbridled ambition – his aggressive deal-making, his insatiable desire to win and get what he wanted, his unabashed love for celebrity – these traits were legendary, and the art they produced made an indelible mark on the entertainment industry. But we now know that behind closed doors, these were the same traits that made him a monster. He created a toxic ecosystem where his abuse could flourish unchecked for decades." The group of employees also asked to be released from the NDAs in their contracts so they can "speak openly, and get to the origins of what happened here, and how." TWC's staff also shared their support for the brave women who have shared their stories about Harvey: "We unequivocally support all the women who have come forward, many of whom we count among our own friends and colleagues. Thank you for speaking out. When the New York Times and The New Yorker articles broke, we wept. We see you, we admire you, and we are in this fight alongside you." Additionally, any reports of them being "honeypots" and being complicit in his behaviors are "disgusting": "And while we can only speak for the people represented in this statement, none of us ever knowingly acted as a so-called ‘honeypot.' That is disgusting and renders us all victims of Harvey's disgraceful behavior." You can read the statement in its entirety HERE! [Image via Media Punch.].....»»

As you likely know, the indie movie mogul has been fired from his company, The Weinstein Company, following The New York Times' exposé detailing three decades of sexual harassment allegations. While we knew journalist Ronan Farrow was conducting his own investigation into the matter for The New Yorker, we didn't realize his piece would contain allegations of rape against the scandalized producer. Related: George Clooney & Kevin Smith Denounce Harvey! Man, oh man. On Tuesday, The New Yorker published an explosive piece which alleges that Weinstein raped three women, including actress Asia Argento. Per Farrow's account, the industry vet forcibly performed and/or received oral sex. Harvey has also been accused of having forced vaginal sex with women. That is so disturbing on so many levels. On why Harvey is only just being exposed now, Argento explained to Farrow: "I know he has crushed a lot of people before. That's why this story—in my case, it's twenty years old, some of them are older—has never come out." Smh. How awful. The piece goes on to confirm that, in addition to the alleged rapes, four women have accused the disgraced filmmaker of forcing unwanted physical contact. Specifically, Weinstein is said to have exposed himself to female victims or masturbated in front of them. This is almost identical to the claims made by the Times. Weinstein has since denied the rape accusations as his spokesman noted in a statement: "Any allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied by Mr. Weinstein. Mr. Weinstein has further confirmed that there were never any acts of retaliation against any women for refusing his advances. Mr. Weinstein obviously can't speak to anonymous allegations, but with respect to any women who have made allegations on the record, Mr. Weinstein believes that all of these relationships were consensual." It's said Farrow has been working on this piece for months. Be sure to read the FULL story for yourself HERE! [Image via WENN.].....»»

Industry Vet Marisa Coughlan Reveals Harvey Weinstein Tried To "Barter Sex For Movie Roles"

Earlier this week, actress-turned-writer Marisa Coughlan detailed an encounter with the disgraced movie mogul where he attempted to barter a role in a film for sex. Ugh. Related: Blythe Danner Defends Daughter Gwyneth Paltrow Per Miz Coughlan's account to The Hollywood Reporter, the blonde industry vet first met Weinstein for a brief moment while at the Teaching Mrs. Tingle premiere in Westwood, CA in 1999. At this time, Marisa was also cast in a Miramax TV show, titled Wasteland. Since Weinstein had his hands in both projects, making him technically her boss, Coughlan felt compelled to say hello to him when she later ran into him at a restaurant. Apparently, Marisa boldly stopped by Harvey's table as he dined with Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and others. Coughlan remembers: "I said hello briefly and went back to my table and didn't talk to him again that night." Thus, she was very shocked when the bill came and it was revealed that Weinstein had paid for Marisa "and [her] three girlfriends." Wanting to be polite, Marisa sent a thank you note to the scandalized producer's New York office. Although Marisa thought that was the end of the story, Weinstein called her a "week or so later." Supposedly, the now 65-year-old said he was "calling a classy lady to thank her for a classy note." While Harvey offered up many compliments, he came off professional as he requested to meet with her at the Peninsula Hotel to discuss a few projects. Marisa wasn't bothered with the meet up location, as she explained: "I was informed that the meeting would be at the Peninsula, which was not abnormal at all... It's like a mini-office with assistants running around and lots of activity." However, there was something different about Weinstein's Peninsula set up. Upon arriving at Harvey's "gigantic penthouse," Marisa witnessed: "There were a few assistants there when I arrived but they literally left the suite like the place was on fire. I didn't process why until later." After discussing a few projects, including a potential lead in a Miramax movie, Harvey made an unsavory proposition to the Super Troopers actress. Marisa, who was only 25 at the time, recalls: "He told me that he has a lot of 'special friends' and they give each other massages. It was a full-court press. He wanted me to be one of his 'special friends' and go into the bedroom. I told him that I had a serious boyfriend and reminded him that he was married and that we should keep this professional. I was so blindsided. Not one ounce of me anticipated it. It was the weirdest meeting I've ever had in my life." Ew, ew, EWWWWWW! What bugged Coughlan most about the come on was how "transactional" it felt. Marisa left the meeting without incident, but Weinstein did follow up as he sent a script to her agents. He also called and offered to fly her out to New York so they could partake in "romantic" outings. Marisa reluctantly agreed to meet with Harvey one more time, but insisted they sit down in a public space. On their second meeting, Coughlan shared: "I sat down and explained that I wanted to be really clear. I told him again that I have a serious boyfriend and I was never going to do anything physical or romantic... It was super uncomfortable, remember, because I was employed by his studio at the time. He seemed so flabbergasted that I wasn't going to go there. I was shocked that he was so shocked." After the rejection, the Hollywood heavyweight asked Marisa to drive him back to the Peninsula. Once the twosome arrived at the hotel, Harvey "pushed and pushed and pushed" for Marisa to come up to his room. Coughlan turned down Weinstein's advances once again and he stormed out of her car -- only to walk back and say that he "respected her." Yeah, sure. Related: Rose McGowan Pulls Out Of Film Festival Appearance Days later, the lead role Harvey teased Marisa with was given to another actress. On whether she knew the extent of Harvey's predatory ways, Marisa noted: "What happened to me, even though it was uncomfortable, was much more of a transactional situation. He wanted to barter sex for movie roles. In other cases, he was forcing himself on them. It's so shocking that he got away with it for as long as he did. I never realized the scope of it. I felt like an island and naively didn't know how pervasive it was." Unsurprisingly, Marisa is standing by the other Harvey accusers -- which include A-listers such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie, Ashley Judd, and Rose McGowan. In regards to the power Weinstein once wielded in Hollywood, the Minnesota native concluded: "I can't imagine a more intimidating person to go up against. During his heyday, he was scary as hell. I saw him yell at assistants and servers, but then saw him turn on a dime and be so charming. There's definitely some Jekyll and Hyde going on there. It's taken this many to come forward to have this happen — there's definitely strength in numbers." Hear! Hear! We couldn't be more grateful that so many women are speaking up now! The younger brother (pictured above, left) of now-disgraced film executive Harvey Weinstein, Bob just came out with a very long interview with THR, and he's speaking out very, very strongly against all the sexual harassment that has now come out public. Related: Uh... Harvey Is Now Lying About Oprah?! Calling his older bro Harvey 'sick and depraved,' Bob Weinstein -- who also works as a film executive jointly with Harvey at The Weinstein Company -- was apparently EXTREMELY emotional and got right down to it in his interview, saying (below): "I find myself in a waking nightmare. My brother has caused unconscionable suffering. As a father of three girls I say this with every bone in my body — I am heartbroken for the women that he has harmed. I'm a fighter. For my entire adult life, I fought for the films I want to see the light of day. I have fought for my employees, who have dedicated their lives to achieving the vision of this company that me and my brother founded. But I cannot fight what is indefensible." Wow. Related: Harvey, Seriously, WTF Is THIS Shit?! Bob -- who says he intends to write the Academy to have Harvey kicked out -- went on to say more about the elder Weinstein brother's rampant physical abuse of him -- and others (below): "I was also the object of a lot of his verbal abuse — at one time physical abuse. And I am not looking for one bit of sympathy from anyone. I do not put myself in the category at all of those women that he hurt. But it's a complicated situation when it's your brother doing the abusing to you as well. I saw it and I asked him to get help for many years. And that's the truth. He avoided getting the help. We begged him. This hurts, but I don't feel an ounce of remorse coming from him, and that kills me too. When I heard his written, lame excuse… Not an excuse. When I heard his admission of feeling remorse for the victims and then him cavalierly, almost crazily saying he was going to go out and take on the NRA, it was so disturbing to me. It was utter insanity. My daughters all felt sick hearing this because we understood he felt nothing. I don't feel he feels anything to this day. I don't." Unbelievable. Bob goes on to reveal that he hasn't had a spot in his personal life for Harvey for at least the last five years, and the brothers have effectively "divorced" each other for years now owing to major personal rifts on top of Harvey's unacceptable behavior. For a candid chat with the Los Angeles Times, Miz Winslet revealed that she purposefully neglected to name the Hollywood heavyweight during her 2009 acceptance speech at the Academy Awards. Oh snap! Related: Emma Thompson Slams "Predator" Weinstein In case you forgot, the industry vet nabbed her first Oscar for her work in The Reader after being nominated five times prior. So it wasn't surprising when the Titanic actress praised 19 people who helped her achieve the career milestone. However, Weinstein was notably absent from her address -- and that was totally on purpose. The A-lister explained: "That was deliberate. That was absolutely deliberate... I remember being told. 'Make sure you thank Harvey if you win.' And I remember turning around and saying, 'No I won't. No I won't.' And it was nothing to do with not being grateful. If people aren't well-behaved, why would I thank him?" Way to stand your ground, girl! We mean, this was a pretty bold move as Harvey has credited himself as the reason Kate got her Oscar. Thus, it makes sense that Winslet is thrilled by Harvey's ousting. She continued: "The fact that I'm never going to have to deal with Harvey Weinstein again as long as I live is one of the best things that's ever happened and I'm sure the feeling is universal." Although Kate was never sexually harassed by the industry titan, he was quite the bully anytime the interacted. The celebrated actress recalled: "For my whole career, Harvey Weinstein, whenever I've bumped into him, he'd grab my arm and say, "Don't forget who gave you your first movie." Like I owe him everything... Then later, with The Reader, same thing, 'I'm gonna get you that Oscar nomination, I'm gonna get you a win, I'm gonna win for you.' ... But that's how he operated. He was bullying and nasty. Going on a business level, he was always very, very hard to deal with — he was rude." How awful. Not to mention, in addition to regularly calling her female agent a derogatory name, Weinstein also displayed "disgraceful behavior" during the making of The Reader. Unfortunately, the 42-year-old wasn't willing to get specific as she wasn't ready to publicly discuss that "can of worms." Unsurprisingly, The Reader was the last time Kate worked with Harvey. She added: "Damn right. I ... stand up for myself and I don't pander to what you're supposed to do and what you're not supposed to do. I won't be pushed around or bullied by anyone. I was bullied as a child. Never again. Certainly not by Harvey Weinstein." PREACH IT. As for the producer's swift fall from grace, Winslet relayed: "This is disgraceful, despicable behavior. This kind of treatment of any workplace is utterly unacceptable. And hopefully what will happen is that more women will feel compelled to come forward — these women are victims of crime by a man who was always impossible to deal with... I hope that Harvey Weinstein absolutely is punished within the fullest extent of the law should that be the case." Couldn't agree more with Kate. We commend all the women who've come forward to expose Weinstein as the predator he is. [Image via WENN/YouTube.].....»»

As we previously reported, the indie movie mogul was fired from his company after The New York Times and The New Yorker unearthed decades worth of sexual harassment and rape allegations. Man, oh man. Related: Harvey Is Blaming His Brother Bob For Leaking Damaging Info And while the decision to fire Harvey was clearly the right one, it seems there is some financial repercussion to letting the Hollywood heavyweight go. According to TMZ, a major film financier has removed its loan from TWC because Harvey is no longer leading the company. Apparently, AI International Holdings fronted a $45 million loan to TWC last year and has since demanded that the money be returned. Yikes! In a letter written by AI's legal team for TWC's lawyers at O'Melveny & Myers, the company claims that "the dismissal of Harvey Weinstein from his position as co-chairman" creates a "material adverse change." In short: Weinstein's firing allows them to request for an immediate repayment of the loan. AI isn't a stranger to the entertainment industry as the company financed several blockbusters -- including Lee Daniels' The Butler, Hacksaw Ridge, and the upcoming flick I, Tonya. To make matters worse, TWC has been hit with its first lawsuit post-Harvey. It's said the lawsuit has been filed by former Paramount President of Production Brad Weston and producer Michael Menchel. The industry vets claim they produced the James Corden led One Chance for a reduced fee in exchange for back end profits. The producing pair agreed to this deal as TWC promised that the movie would appear on 800 screens, but in reality, only showed on 43. Damn. Understandably, Weston and Menchel are seeking $1.25 million each. As it's believed that Harvey was the linchpin for TWC's years of success, these updates add more fuel to the gossip fire that the mini-major film studio can't last without the scandalized filmmaker.
